About Rayne
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE, HOWEVER WE CAN ON OCCASION ARRANGE TRANSPORT BY ROAD TO THE PERTH AREA.
NAME: Rayne
BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE Esperance from the pound
BREED: Jack Russell x Chihuahua
BREED TRAITS: Jack Russells are lively, independent and clever. They are trainable but have a mind of their own and if bored can dig and chew. Terriers are devoted to their people, affectionate and love being with them so cannot be left for long periods. Jack Russells can exhibit 'small dog syndrome' unless well socialised so may be reactive to larger dogs which can get them into trouble if not monitored. Careful and sensitive socialisation from a young age is a must.
Chihuahuas love to be with their people and are definitely companion dogs that do not like to be left alone, They are sensitive, and can be aloof or wary of strangers and other dogs so early socialisation is very important. Chihuahuas cannot tolerate cold or hot weather so a warm coat in the winter and care re overheating in the summer is needed - they are not outside dogs. They are bright and wilful but will learn if you make it fun and although small, have big personalities.

ASSETS: Affectionate, devoted, eager to please, friendly, sensitive, quiet and playful pretty much sums up Rayne’s personality, she’s a very sweet girl but can be shy and unsure around new people initially.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Rayne loves to play with the other dogs in her foster home (although isn’t confident around larger dogs) and enjoys playing with soft toys. She loves to go for rides in the car and craves human affection, lapping up all the cuddles she can get!
ENDEARING FEATURES: Rayne is very loving and gentle. She’s completely devoted to her person and loves to follow them around.
OTHER ANIMALS: Rayne gets on well with other friendly, similar sized dogs and loves their company. She could live with a dog-savvy cat after gentle introduction.
GENERAL INFO: Rayne walks quietly on the lead but could do with a little more training as it’s still fairly new to her. She’s house trained and enjoys getting out and about in the car, she rarely barks and isn’t a fan of being left alone for long periods of time. She’s housetrained and knows a couple of commands but would benefit from some ongoing training with this.
ESSENTIALS for Rayne:
** A quiet, loving home where someone is there more often than not or can take her with them when out.
** She would love to live with another dog or at least have regular interaction and playdates with other friendly, similar sized dogs.
** Rayne needs a fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things for her to sniff and explore.
** Rayne loves to be with her people so needs to be allowed inside the home and to sleep inside at night.
Rayne could live in a home with dog-experienced, gentle children over 12 years of age who will recognize her shyness/caution and give her space when she needs it but an adult only home would suit her very well.
