Frankie’s breeding is a bit of a mystery, he may have Corgi or even daschy ancestors, but what we do know is that he is lovely young dog with a zest for life, a great temperament and a constantly wagging tail. He has settled down quickly in care and is enjoying and reciprocating the care and affection shown to him. He is slightly wary of meeting new people, possibly due to the environment he has come from, but overcomes this very quickly once he is assured that they pose no threat. At no time has he shown any sign of aggression, only caution. He does take a bit longer to warm to men, but positive interactions with our male volunteers has made him more relaxed around men.
He is good with the other dogs he has met on walks, but he is untested with cats. Frankie loves his walks and doesn’t pull on the lead. He seldom barks and then only to give warning. An indoor dog, he is fully house trained; waiting at the door when he wants to go out. He knows and complies with basic commands like ‘sit’, ‘stay’, and ‘no’; has excellent eye contact and reasonable recall (although off-lead not recommended at this stage). As a young dog with energy to match, Frankie does tend to jump up when excited but this is gradually improving in care. He travels well on the back seat of the car, enjoying everything going on around him. While he really enjoys his food, he is not food-possessive, nor a fussy eater.
He enjoys playing with toys, and loves it when his human joins in, but his attention span can be a bit short when they are not involved. Frankie should adapt quite quickly to a new, forever home and will be a loving and affectionate companion to those willing to treat him with the love and respect he so deserves.
