Chonky, boofa, chombawomba... or generally big, soft and squishy, if you like your pups chunky then meet your perfect match in Ben (or his brother Bill, also listed).
In Ben you will find a gorgeous friendly pup who is always happy to see you and come up for a pat and a cuddle. Bens Mum is American Staffordshire but his Dad is unknown (oops!) and judging by the size of Ben and Bill, could be a little larger. He will most likely be a medium-large to large dog when adult.
Ben is in a rural, family foster home and as such has been around young kids, other dogs, a cat and horses - nothing fazes him much and he appears to be a lovely social boy. To keep him this way his new owner MUST be able to socialise him well once fully vaccinated (this means take out and about to meet new people, new dogs, new places and situations) so that he grows up confident and friendly. As he will likely be a stocky and fairly large boy it really is important to put in the time when he is a pup to avoid a big unsocial dog! In the same way his new owners must be willing to spend time training him, and we always recommend puppy classes and group obedience training so that your pup learns the basics (and his owner learns training skills) in a fun, positive environment.
Beautiful Ben will need an active and loving home with someone around most of the time while he is in the puppy stages as he will require lots of interaction with his human pack, enrichment to keep him from becoming bored/lonely and learns to bond with his new family. Ben so far is not toilet trained so when inside will need frequent trips outdoors to do his business especially after mealtimes.
Adopting such a young pup means his future nature is down to you: train, guide, be involved with and nurture your pup and watch him bloom into a loyal, friendly and well behaved adult dog, but be realistic and prepare for accidents inside, for the odd chewed thong, or a hole dug in the garden. Your pup will learn from you and reward you by being your best friend.
Ben is a fantastic pup and will make a wonderful family member.
If you are renting PLEASE check with your landlord/agency that you are allowed a med/large dog. We may ask for proof of this from applicants who rent to avoid pups being returned. Thank you for your understanding.
If you can offer Ben a loving, stable and active home, please complete our SAFE Bunbury application form as follows:
