About Kovu
Kovu has always been a very much loved member of his family, sharing his home with four other male German Shepherds. Sadly, as the dogs have matured, the dynamics within the pack have gradually changed and tensions have developed, resulting in fights between the dogs.
His devoted owners have done everything possible to try to restore harmony, seeking advice and exhausting all reasonable options before making the heartbreaking decision to rehome Kovu. This is not a decision made lightly or because Kovu is unloved it's was quite the opposite. Sometimes even in the most loving and committed homes, circumstances change, and putting the wellbeing and safety of every dog first means making an incredibly difficult choice.
Kovu is a social boy who enjoys the company of other dogs and would love to share his new home with a friendly, well-matched large female or male dog who enjoys playing and spending time together.
Kovu is house trained and will stand at the front door to let you know when he needs to go outside. He is also crate trained and sees his crate as his very own “man cave.” He loves his toys and will often collect his favourites and proudly take them back to his special space.
This gorgeous boy loves being part of family adventures. Car rides and camping are among his favourite activities, and he is a real water baby who will happily make the most of any opportunity for a splash. Kovu isn’t storm phobic, in fact, he loves nothing more than running around and playing in the rain!
Kovu knows basic commands including sit and drop, although he can pull on the lead and would benefit from some further loose-lead training. Attending an obedience group with his new owner would be a wonderful way to continue his training while also building that important bond together.
Kovu now deserves the opportunity to begin a new chapter in a home where he can feel settled, secure and, most importantly, just as deeply loved as he has always been.
He is not suited to go to a home with cats.
If you can see yourself with this beautiful boy in your home please "Enquire for Kovu" and we will send you our application form.
If you live in Queensland or Victoria, you can be considered, however you will need to be able to drive to Willow Tree with your family. If for any reason he doesn't fit your family you will be responsible for bringing him back to Willow Tree or helping us to rehome from your home.

Adoption details
We have an Adoptions Manager who screens all prospective candidates as to their suitability to adopt a German Shepherd Dog.
We try to contact every one by phone but if that isn't successful we will email our application form to you, which needs to be completed and returned, or you can call us back and we can chat and complete for you. We will also ask you to provide photos of your yard and fencing to enable us to see where the dog will be kept and that they have areas of shade and shelter.
All our dogs are ready to go to their new home, so when you enquire about a dog you must be in a position to take them into your home. We are unable to hold a dog while you fix your fences or go on holiday, etc.
The successful candidate who adopts one of our dogs is provided with an information kit, ongoing support, training and advice on all aspects of feeding, training and general assistance to ensure both the new owner and our rescued dog settle into their home.
