About Maxx
Maxx's owners home situation changed so that they are away from home for long hours and unable to exercise him and he was not adjusting to the changed situation. Maxx was well loved by his family but sadly they've made the difficult decision to find him a new home.
Maxx is house trained and will stand at the front door to get your attention if he needs to go outside. He is crate trained and loves his toys, he often will collect them and take them back to his man cave (crate). Maxx loves car rides, camping and is a real water baby. He is not storm phobic but loves to play and run around in the rain. Maxx has been taught basic commands like sit, down or drop but will pull on the lead.
His new owner would benefit in taking him to obedience groups.
Since Maxx has been at his foster carers property, he has learnt good social skills with many other German Shepherds and Kelpies and enjoys exercise and play time with them.
Maxx is desexed, vaccinated and wormed and has been a well looked after boy. He is a black sable medium coat which will need regular grooming or brushing to keep maintained. He is 34 kg, so not a very large boy. Maxx loves people but occasionally gets excited and will jump on you.
He is not suited to go to a home with cats.
If you can see yourself with this beautiful boy in your home please "Enquire for Maxx" and we will send you our application form.
If you live in Queensland or Victoria, you can be considered, however you will need to be able to drive to Newcastle with your family. If for any reason he doesn't fit your family you will be responsible for bringing him back to Sydney or helping us to rehome from your home.
Adoption details
We have an Adoptions Manager who screens all prospective candidates as to their suitability to adopt a German Shepherd Dog.
We try to contact every one by phone but if that isn't successful we will email our application form to you, which needs to be completed and returned, or you can call us back and we can chat and complete for you. We will also ask you to provide photos of your yard and fencing to enable us to see where the dog will be kept and that they have areas of shade and shelter.
All our dogs are ready to go to their new home, so when you enquire about a dog you must be in a position to take them into your home. We are unable to hold a dog while you fix your fences or go on holiday, etc.
The successful candidate who adopts one of our dogs is provided with an information kit, ongoing support, training and advice on all aspects of feeding, training and general assistance to ensure both the new owner and our rescued dog settle into their home.
