About Stubby
Hi! I’m Stubby and I’m looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR Stubby
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/gKN1ghkDeXdcHEHM9
NOTE: You are unable to meet Stubby until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Stubby in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
What I need in my new home:
• BREED KNOWLEDGE IS PREFERRED
• Regular walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• To be allowed inside with my family
• A doggie playmate who is gentle and calm may be okay as boisterous dogs scare me and I will become defensive towards them. I am not overly interactive with other dogs but am happy to co exist if they leave me be.
• A cat may be ok with a slow introduction.
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
• A family who promise to keep me well groomed and brush me regularly so I’m always looking and feeling my best
• Lots of love and attention
• I have previously lived with children
• I can be shy at first so I need a family who’ll allow me to grow in confidence in my own time
• I do suffer from separation anxiety so will require a family who is home a lot or can take me everywhere with them
Things that I don’t want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
• Young children as they may accidently hurt me
My best features:
• Playful
• Food motivated
• Gentle & placid
• I love nothing more than to be snuggled on your lap or held like a baby with my head over your shoulder
• I walk well on lead
• I am housetrained and have been an inside dog in my previous home
• I LOVE toys (especially soft ones) & playing fetch
• I love attention, hugs, kisses & head scratches
Where I need to improve / Training required:
• I appear to be quiet vocal at times when left alone - a family who has a lot of time for me, allow me indoors and leave me with lots of mental enrichment when home alone is recommended
• 7 Weeks ago I was attacked by another dog which resulted in me having a fractured jaw, understandably because of this I can be nervous & defensive around bigger dogs. Lots of positive encounters with other social dogs is recommended.
Medical notes
7 weeks ago I was attacked by another dog which resulting in a left facial and jaw fracture. I underwent extensive surgery to repair this. As a result of the trauma I am now blind in my left eye and have an asymmetrical face. My left eye may develop conditions in the future requiring treatment, though just requires monitoring for now.
I have mild hip dysplasia
I have flaky skin/ dandruff which will require medicated oatmeal washes
