About Reef
Meet Reef,
Reef is a gentle, sweet & social little girl who is very friendly and very outgoing. She oozes confidence and is also quite curious about literally anything!
Reef is suitable for first time cat owners, or those with experience. She is a cat who’s suitable to any home environment and is also open to meet kids of any age! Reef loves being picked up & cuddled and loves her cheeks being scratched. She shows her excitement with a few little mews & a fluffed up tail as she prances around in front of you.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Reef would go living with dogs, this would be up to the discretion of her new owners. But based on her easy-going nature she possibly could live with another dog as long as the introduction is executed properly.
As for living with other cats, again this is up to her new owners, and we recommend a slow & controlled introduction to other feline friends. Reef is a cat on the go & the only way we were able to take photos of her was to offer her treats or offer her a kitten to play with (if that gives you any indication of her friendliness with other cats). We honestly don’t think Reef has a mean bone in her body – she loves everything.
As a confident cat she enjoyed being in the cat park, however we recommend her being inside only as her confidence may not work in her favour. He confidence may see her roam off your property & expose her to unknown territory, unfamiliar people & other dangers. She can still be a confident cat inside the safety of her new home.
Despite her constant moving around, Reef’s energy needs are low. She doesn’t’ seem to be interested in toys but does have a special place in her heart for 1 single grey mouse toy that she loves to bat it around & carry it in her mouth.
As mentioned before, her love of food is what scored us some epic snaps (although, it was still difficult), Reef loves food & treats and the good news is that if you cannot find her in your home, she will come running to the sound of a treat bag opening. The other good news is that she is also very tidy & always uses her litter tray.
Desex: Reef is not desexed yet & there may be a delay in getting her desexed. Staff will advise you of her desex date (if there is one) at the time of adoption or as soon as a date has been booked in.
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask if that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
