About Phyllis
A quiet, gentle & charming little lady...
Meet Phyllis,
Phyllis is an independent girl, but she is gentle, sensitive & a little nervous. She is very curious and does have a sweet playful streak, but her shy/timidness holds her back from her full potential.
Phyllis is best suited to someone who has owned cats before, or with someone who has experience with shy, timid cats. She is also best suited in a home that is calm & quiet.
She is open to meet kids, at this time we have not decided on an age as yet, just as long as the kids are understanding of her need of a safe space & time to adjust into her new home. She is the type of cat that will adjust with time and honestly, she really doesn’t take long to start feeling more confident and adventurous when meeting people in the cattery, so we are very positive that she will make a quick turn around in her new home.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Phyllis would go living with dogs, we would lean more towards a no simply based on her current demeanour. As for cats, Phyllis is open to meet them providing the introduction is slow & gradual. She hasn’t made it outwardly clear that she is against having feline friends, but we can see her being a cat that can co-exist with another or happy being the only cat in the home too.
Again, based on her current nature, Phyllis should be inside only in her new home. Her timidity will work against her if she is to be outside, she will likely hide & be hard to find, or she may run away from her home in search of a safe space. She will be able to live inside her new home happily & above all safely.
Phyllis has low energy needs and doesn’t appear to like toys apart from one little wiggle worm toy that brings her a lot of joy! However, she loves all food that’s offered to her, including treats! Phyllis is also very neat & tidy & always uses her litter tray. She is a girl that really wants to interact with you & does in small increments, she is learning that human affection is good for the soul and is slowly getting used to being petted. To show how comfy she is, she will head butt your hand or her condo – Phyllis will need an understanding owner and we are incredibly proud of the progress she has made since being with us.
Desex: Phyllis is not desexed yet & there may be a delay in getting her desexed. Staff will advise you of her desex date (if there is one) at the time of adoption or as soon as a date has been booked in.
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask if that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
Medical notes
No known pre-existing conditions.
