About Stella (29925)
Stella came to GAWS due her space not being respected or boundaries put in place when around the young child in the home. Stella is a well trained, clever dog, who loves her people and her ball. She has low tolerance for other pets and needs to be well managed around dogs. Stella has a detected issue in her rear end (spondylosis) which will need monitoring, not uncommon in a senior dog. Although she adores a game of fetch this will need to be limited and new ways of engagement explored. Stella is dynamite at flicking gate latches and needs a secure yard. Her enthusiasm and energy is infectious and will make fantastic companion in a pet and child free home.
Medical notes
SPONDYLOSIS
What is the problem? Spondylosis was seen on X–rays of the spine. This refers to bony changes at the ends of the vertebrae and is extremely common in older dogs and cats. In younger animals it could be caused by previous trauma or other causes of instability. The most common location is at the base of the spine near the tail (lumbosacral junction).
