About Rex
Hi all you dog lovers, my name is Rex!
I am a sweet little old man with plenty of life left in me. Presently I spend my days overseeing and playing with the young puppies. Some are slow learners, but others are becoming respectful and obedient quite quickly. Being with the young ones has been good for me. I have lost weight and looking pretty dashing these days [Wink, Wink]. Plus, when I have had enough of the puppies, I am such a good jumper that I can leap up onto my special bed which is a meter off the ground. The puppies are not coordinated enough [YET!] to follow me.
I do enjoy the luxuries that come with being a small senior dog such as baths which include the best back scratch ever, fresh meat portions twice a day of an appropriate size, extra cuddles just because I am ever so cute and handsome, and a little time inside with my human. I have only just been desexed so I couldn’t be trusted to behave myself. However, I am a smart old boy so I don’t think it will take long for me to be house trained.
I don’t jump all over you but if I think you can’t see me, I will lick your leg to let you know I am here. My foster mum goes crazy when I do. I am a chilled old boy who doesn’t bark, but I will let you know if someone is at the door. Being an old dog, I prefer to graze all day, so it would be great if you could leave biscuits out 24/7.
I do enjoy going for a drive, going for afternoon walks and visiting the dog park. Cats and dogs don’t present any issues for me and children are fine as long as though know how to treat and old man properly. Look, the reality is I am an old dog, BUT don’t skim passed me because of my age. I am a young dog at heart with plenty of good years to come. I will bring nothing but joy and companionship to the family who adopts me.
Cheers to another fun and loving packed 10 years plus. I am so excited to meet the family who will one day soon be mine. Love to all.
If you believe you are my ‘furever home’, take me home for a trial, you will not be disappointed.MEET & GREET
We encourage all adopters to meet their new addition before committing to adoption. This gives you a chance to see if the animal might be a good fit, and if a dog, to also introduce them to your other animals. Just like we don't expect all humans to get along, we expect the same for animals.
ADOPTION AGREEMENT
At CQASI our animals future is paramount and we want to see them put into their forever homes. Every detail on our agreement is used to ensure your home is suitable for a new addition, that you agree to the terms and conditions and we also use some of the info for owner transfer after the adoption trial period (mentioned further down)
HOME/YARD CHECK
All our cats are indoor/outdoor enclosure only so all house checks are done when your feline friend is being dropped off to join your household. If the barking variety is what you are looking at adding to your home then one of our volunteers will contact you to arrange a day/time for a yard check. This is to check your fencing is suitable, see where your new canine will be sleeping and just get a general feel for the home they will be going to. All our adoptions tend to be local, but we have connections all over QLD so are more than happy to consider all serious adoption enquiries. A house/yard check will be done if we can get a local member (if adoption enquiry is not Rockhampton based) to assist.
ADOPTION FEE
Adoption fee is to be paid prior to collecting your new family member. The adoption fee is used to cover the vet work your new addition received. This includes - but is not limited to Desexing, vaccination/s, microchipping, parasite treatment/prevention (heart worm testing for dogs only).
TWO WEEK TRIAL
All our animals have a two week trial period. This gives your new addition time to settle into your family life and to give you a chance to ensure they are exactly what you want. If they are not settling in then we will arrange to take them back into care and you will be refunded the adoption fee. If after the two weeks they are exactly what you wanted then we will send you all their paperwork including sterilisation certificate, vaccination certificate and microchip transfer form.
Our aim is a beautiful goodbye into their new home. We treat any potential adoption with the upmost care as the animals safety and welfare is our number one concern.
