About Sage
💚💙 Available for Adoption - Sage 💙💚
We posted Sage a while ago, along with his brother Herb (who was adopted a couple of weeks ago). We'd love to find Sage his forever family, and he's patiently waiting. Sage is currently in Foster care with Chelsie and her fur-gang... this is what she has to say about Sage.
'Sage is the most adorable energetic cheeky boy who's come along way since coming into our home, which we share with 2 dogs and 3 cats. Sage is firm friends with our 2yr old pup Charlie (also a previous SoCares baby), who's showing him the ropes and teaching him some manners. Sage gets so excited when he sees Lils, our 12yr old senior dog, that we have to wait till energy levels reduce before Lils will tolerate the invasion of her personal space 😊😁'.
'When Sage sees the cats he's very keen to chase and play (even though they aren't). There's never any agression, but if there is a resident cat in his new family, it will have to be assertive and able to put Sage in his place, till he gets used to his place, which is exactly what 'Ninja Tilly' our 16yr old cat does so well 😆'.
'Sage is crate trained and sleeps through the night. He is able to sit on command and understands 'No' and 'Uh-Uh'. He's also currently learning, down/drop, wait, touch and leave. He's a very bright boy and picks up things easily. He's treat motivated, and is gentle when taking them, and doesn't snap for them. He loves his licky and snuffle mats, and all the enrichment those types of toys brings. He also loves playing with ice cubes in his slow feeder bowl, and his absolute favourite game is tug in the garden'!
'He's getting the hang of walking on a lead, and has shown only good behaviours with other dogs we meet on our walks, but is cheeky enough to bark back if they bark at him 🤪'.
'Sage is doing well with the toilet training, and despite a couple of accidents, knows the puppy mat and the garden are his places to do his business. He is affectionate, and loves a good head and ear massage, and having his tummy rubbed, but can get over excited during play, which brings on the puppy nipping. We have been working with him to encourage licking and calm behaviour instead, and acknowledge that everything takes time. Each day he takes a step in the right direction... and of course, he's only still a puppy right'?
For his new family, continued training, structure and follow through are a must, so that this boy to be the best version of himself.
Sage's adoption fee is $800, and covers lifetime registration, microchipping, desexing, up to date vaccination, flea & worming treatments, and puppy training classes.
