About Judd Falko
TO APPLY FOR ADOPTION PLEASE SEND IN APPLICATION FORM AVAILABLE BELOW:
https://www.victoriandogrescue.org.au/about-vicdrg/adoption-and-foster-application-forms.html
Judd is a gentle, delightful companion who thrives on human interaction and affection. He exudes love and warmth, always seeking cuddles and physical closeness with his human. Despite his initial excitement, he is not demanding of attention, possesses a calm demeanor and enjoys lounging and sleeping on his bed for hours, revelling in the comfort of home.
Judd’s enthusiasm for people sometimes manifests in jumping and holding on, though he is a very gentle jumper and responds well to down, sit and stay. He enjoys a few walks a day, where he exhibits some excitement and tends to pull on the lead. Efforts are underway to help him come to heal and walk at a slower pace.
He likes a food puzzle to stimulate smell and discover the rewards, responds well to training using food treats for positive reinforcement, but doesn’t exhibit behaviours like drooling or begging for treats. Instead, he enjoys the attention from those around him, is eager to please and focus on human companionship. Judd is not a demanding dog and while enthusiastic and keen to go for walks and be engaged with his humans he is not a high energy dog and settles down quickly when encouraged to do so.
Judd demonstrates adaptability in various situations. While he prefers indoor company, he’s content to sleep and stay outside, showing no signs of anxiety or destructive behaviour when left alone. Initially he will try to get his way with puppy dog eyes but will quickly adjust to the established routine.
Judd has not been fully tested with other dogs and some exuberance has been observed. He has also responded well to slow introductions, ie. walking alongside a calm dog on a lead. Slow and calm introductions are recommended until more is known about how he gets along with a dog. At this time Judd needs to be the only dog in the household although in his past rural life he has been so enthusiastic to get to next door dogs that he dug under the fence and had a great play with other dogs a few times. He has not been tested with cats.
Judd is cooperative during grooming sessions, and prefers a towel to a blow dryer. He handles visits to the dog wash with ease, demonstrating good behaviour throughout the process.
Judd is a gentle, lovable and affectionate companion who thrives on human connection. With patience and positive reinforcement, he continues to adjust and flourish in his foster home, enriching the lives of those around him with his endearing personality.
Judd does not need a large yard but secure fencing is required. He travels well in the back seat of the car, is crate trained and sleeps well inside his crate through the night. He is house trained preferring to toilet while on his walks.
At this time Judd is probably best suited to a single or couple household. Teenagers are fine but he is untested with smaller children.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
Medical notes
Weight: 24.5 kg
Health: Judd has some special needs with his front legs but it doesn't stop him living a full and happy life. This exhibits itself in his wallaby hop.
He has recently been seen by a specialist vet to assess his front legs. Following thorough investigations no condition has been diagnosed and as Judd is a very happy dog the vet has recommended that he live life to the fullest within his capacity.
He is a lovely dog who is eager to please his people and be part of the household. He will be a great companion and loyal friend to the right people.
Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.
