About Poppy
LOCATED IN MOUNT GAMBIER SA
Hello, my name is Poppy.
The vet says I’m a golden retriever x kelpie and I’m about 6 months old now and growing every day I get told. I have two big German shepherd foster brothers who I love playing with and biting their back legs then I run away for a game of chasey. Don’t tell them but I’m faster than them at running ! We tumble and play fight and sometimes I jump on them and squish them. Play fighting is so much fun !
I love playing with toys, especially those which squeak and chasing balls is fun. Though I do need reminding about bringing the ball back sometimes.
I have learnt how to sit, drop and shake hands well 🐾 paws. I’m nearly rolling over ( I love it when I roll half way over and someone pats my tummy ) I wait (sometimes impatiently) for my meals and I make such good eye contact with my human friends. I take treats gently when told. I can walk on a leash now though I can pull a little at the start as I’m so excited to get out into the world and sniff the world. Sniffing is fun.
I’m super happy and friendly with dogs and I love lots of people. I have a special little 9 year old human friend who I just want to hang with and get a sneaky lick in when I can. We run around and I try my very best not to jump but I get so happy and excited I forget sometimes. I’m still learning.
I’m a master at finding things that others didn’t know they lost. My foster mum calls me a little magpie. I’m interested in everything ! Even crickets that move and I’m currently chomping on a snail that tastes a bit icky.
Anyway, being close to the humans in the family is what I love apart from playing with the big furry boys. Just sitting next to them and gazing into two legged friends eyes.. I could do that for hours if my two legged friends kept on patting me!
As puppies do, I’m always exploring and experiencing and learning about boundaries. What am I allowed to do and what I can’t do. It’s confusing sometimes sigh. Oh I have been known to dig a hole and bury a bone in there so it doesn’t get stolen whoops don’t tell anyone where my hidey spots are shhh
My foster mum tells me I’m very smart so would love to be in a family that wants to encourage me to learn all about being a good puppy and growing up to be the bestest doggy ever! Can I go to puppy socialising and dog obedience ? Yes yes yes!
When I’m happy my whole body wags not just my tail. I ❤️ treats so if you want me to learn I will learn way faster with treats (hint hint)
I’m a bit scared in cars but I’m sure the more we go in them I will grow to love being in them, because you’re in there with me ❤️
I have met my foster families cat but not so sure about her. She meows at me and I’m not real sure what that means. I could like her if she plays ball with me ?
Anyway, I think you now know a little bit about me. Oh apart from I would love to be with a family with another dog friend and even a little human who I could cuddle up to and chill with.
I’m a sensitive little soul at times so sometimes you have to realise I’m just a puppy and I just want to be part of someone’s family furever and ever. My own family.
That’s all I want. Someone that loves me for me.
Back to the snail now as it’s tasting better.
Look forward to meeting you hopefully real soon. Lots of tail wags and puppy kisses
