Frankie is a highly intelligent and adorable young lady who has captured our hearts! She fit perfectly into her foster carer's home from the first day, quickly picking up on the house rules and toilet training from her older foster brothers and sister. She loves wrestling, running and playing with the bigger dogs but is just as happy to spend time on her own, or cuddling up with one of the teenagers.
Frankie has an inquisitive temperament and she can spend hours sitting on the back deck, watching over the ducks and making sure they keep in line. She would be fantastic as a farm/working dog and is easily trained. She actually seems to thrive on learning and following new instructions. Frankie would just as easily make a loyal house dog, who would benefit from an active family that can spend time going for walks, visiting new places, and playing mentally challenging games.
Frankie is a visually stunning young girl with the body of a blue cattle dog, but it's her face and those enormous ears that truly set her a part from the rest!! She was classified as a Cattle x Kelpie when rescued from the pound at 4 months of age, however her vet believes she may have a mix of Belgian Malinois or other Shepherd breed, which accounts for her pointy nose, large ears and superior intelligence.
Frankie will very quickly fit into a home with other dogs, however caution should be taken when leaving her alone with smaller dogs until they get to know each other. This is only because Frankie is used to playing with three large dogs and teenagers, she may be a little rough with smaller animals or humans until she understands how to adjust her play response. Since coming care Frankie has always had other animals or humans around her so it is unknown who she will react to being left all by herself. She sleeps inside on a small bed with her foster carer's other dogs and takes herself outside, on her own, when she needs to go to the bathroom.
Frankie has proven to be an amazing guard dog. She does not bark excessively but just to give a warning if something is happening outside of the property that shouldn't. She also loves to round up the ducks when it is time for them to go back into the pen and her favourite game is finding duck eggs, which she carries around carefully in her mouth as a prize. Her intelligence and heritage mean that Frankie could get herself into trouble if left to her own devices for long periods of time. She will require an owner that can keep her mentally stimulated and set clear boundaries for Frankie, and the family to follow. Frankie will absolutely thrive with an owner that is able to invest time to train and enhance her natural, delightful nature.
Frankie is $400 + $100 desex bond* to adopt and comes microchipped, C5 vaccinated and given flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives.
*Desex bond will be refunded once pup is desexed at one of our nominated vets at the appropriate age. The cost of desexing is included in the adoption fee, as long as it is done at one of our nominated vets.
