Gem

"Gem" a 12 year old Welsh x Quarter Horse Mare, Chestnut,  approx 13.1hh.

Gem has been with RSPCA for the past few months, in that time she has been with one of our amazing foster carers who has kindly handled and educated Gem in preparations for her new home.

Gem had been started under saddler in her previous home but turned out for 18 month prior to coming to RSPCA.

Gem is up to date with trimming, dental work, vaccinations, drenching, vet health check and has been microchipped.  She is an easy keeper and is happy to be alone or paddocked with others. 

She has been undertaking a wide range of handling including lunging, long reigning/driving, working off the fore and hind, leading nicely, backing up, wearing saddle and bridle, exposure to obstacles, trail walking in the company of many dogs and people, having her feet picked up and trimmed, loading and unloading into the float.

Gem is now good to catch and loves a groom. 

She is a sensitive but kind soul who has such a willingness to learn with a calm and low energy leader.  

Gem would not be suitable for small children.  She would require a home with older children under supervision.  She is not a beginner's pony.
