About Dixie
Introducing Dixie, a statuesque, affectionate and laid-back Great Dane x Staffy born on 13 September 2022. She weighs around 28 kgs.
Dixie loves all humans, big and small. She is a friendly, affectionate and loyal girl, who'd love a family and home of her own.
If properly introduced, Dixie is dog-friendly. As you can see in the photo of her at her foster home, she gets along well with dogs, big and small, and lives with them happily. In the attached video, she was gentle and patient with a bunch of exuberant puppies who wanted to chew her face, feet and tail.
It's a different story when Dixie's on leash. Although she walks nicely on leash, she is reactive if she comes across a dog she doesn't know.
She is untested with cats.
Dixie's ideal home has secure fencing and at least one person who's around most of the time. She'd be fine as an only dog, but as she's shown in her foster home, she's happy to live with other dogs, too. She prefers to be an inside-outside dog.

Adoption details
Dogs:
(1) The first step is to complete the online adoption application form at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ Please answer all questions and include photos of your yard and fencing.
(2) All applications will be considered by our Adoption Team, following which a "meet and greet" will be offered to the top-ranking applicant.
(3) If the “meet and greet" is successful, the applicant may adopt the dog and take him or her home the same day.
(4) For successful interstate applicants, different arrangements may apply and will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
Cats:
If you are interested in one of our cats or kittens, please click on the green "Enquire about ...", button, tell us a bit about yourself and the home you can offer the cat, and one of our volunteers will be in touch.
