About Taz
Hi! I'm Taz and I'm looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR Taz
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/LjLAxrWWxfDBHHyD7
NOTE: You are unable to meet Taz until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Taz in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
Size: Large
Weight: 25kg
What I need in my new home:
• BREED KNOWLEDGE IS PREFERRED
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• To be allowed inside with my family
• A doggie playmate would be great, if not then lots of socialising with other dogs
• I like both friendly male and female dogs
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
• Lots of love and attention
• No children under 12 as I can be very shy and frighten easily, older children who will be involved with my training should be ok.
• I can be shy at first so I need a family who'll allow me to grow in confidence in my own time
• Being an active breed I have a lot of energy so an active family is a must!
• SOCIALISATION is as important for me as it appears I've led a very sheltered life and can be a bit nervous/shy in new situations. Since being at the shelter I'm becoming much braver though. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will help boost my confidence
Things that I don't want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
• Cats or small animals as I may find them fun to chase
• Young children as I can be a bit shy in new situations and with new people and little ones may accidently scare me. Older children who will be involved with my training should be ok.
My best features:
• Cuddly, Gentle & placid
• Wiggle butt
• I love attention and having snuggles with my humans, especially once I've settled in and have gotten to know you.
• I walk well on lead, I can sometimes get shy and need some words of encouragement from my person.
• Happy to hang out with other friendly dogs
• Social butterfly
• I love attention, hugs, kisses & head scratches
• Well mannered and loyal.
• I have begun crate training and would happily go into my crate at night, so if that's something you'd like me to do, please keep up with my training.
Where I need to improve / Training required:
• I am shy at first with new people and in new environments so will require a family who will take their time allowing me to settle in and continue on with my socialization
• I need further training on my recall as I can ignore you if you're trying to call me back to you
• I can sometimes initially be shy and try to avoid things going over my head (lead etc). It doesn't take long for me warm up and my excitable & full of life nature to come out.
• I am social with other dogs however can be reactive on lead when I see another dog, especially once I am bonded to you. Further desensitization & training should help this
• I do show signs of anxiety when left alone and get vocal. Another dog may help me, however I need a family who understand about anxious dogs and can leave me treats and enrichment toys to help keep me calm when left alone.
