About Casper
🆘 Very special carer needed for Casper 🆘
Casper urgently needs a new foster home - can you help?
Casper the wolfhound x (not to be confused with a Pitbull cross – if you know you know ) caused quite a stir when we first introduced him to you, and we're hoping there's still some beautiful people interested in helping him out.
Casper has spent his life as a Community Dog.
For those that don’t know Community Dogs are in effect the equivalent of street dogs – they live in outback communities and satellite towns.
They are sociable and friendly dogs who are literally part of Community.
They have no “owner” or “home” but are very much “everyone’s” dogs.
Community dogs learn the rules and chain of command in often harsh ways – Casper has a lot of scars to bear testament to this.
He was picked up by the rangers wandering with another deaf dog believed to be his sister, and as a dog with no home or person of his own to claim him he became at massive risk of euthanasia in the pound.
So of course Casper came to us, we have taken in many community dogs and we know that with a little time they become the best boys and girls.
As is normal for a community pup, Casper is struggling to understand life in this new world.
He's used to hanging out with other dogs and making friends with every person he meets.
He adores his foster family and the luxuries of lots of attention and good food, but inside living still doesn’t come naturally to him.
Casper likes to be outside often and adores investigating every corner of his new world.
Sadly, the current carers fences are only low and chainlink, so cannot contain him and his inquisitive nature.
When left alone he gets quite worried so will sometimes take off in search of company - which obviously isn’t great for any dog, much less a naive country boy in a big city.
So, we are looking for a bit of a unicorn home for this gorgeous boy
1. Must have good Fences.
2. Someone home often.
3. A good outdoor space as he will initially hang out there more often than not – he is not yet housetrained so cannot be locked inside all day.
4. Other Dogs – Casper is super social and obviously used to hanging with other dogs. We are a little torn on this as he has so many scars on him that clearly are a result of him coming off worse from fights for food.
His current carer has no dog which clearly adds to his loneliness in the day.
We think other dogs would be great for him but we need to just be sure it’s a great match for him and them.
5. Cats and pocket pets are a no – he has lived fending for himself so we just can’t risk that.
We know that with a little time and patience, Casper will be an absolute dream of a dog.
With the right person's help, he'll grow to be a beautiful family member, and hopefully adapt to finding as much joy in his own company as he does in others.
We do have dog trainers on hand to help if needed.
We're hoping for a foster carer to take him as soon as possible but we're definitely open to forever homes and foster-to-adopt situations.
If you've got room in your life for this gorgeous boy please get in touch with us by PM - a few weeks really will make a lifetime of difference.
Casper is desexed, vaccinated, chipped and flea / worm treated – he will come with his food et – all you need to provide is patience, time and love.
Adoption details
At The Mini Rescue, we strive to make the adoption process as seamless as possible. We understand that bringing a new pet into your home is a big decision that will enrich your life in countless ways. That’s why we’ve developed a clear, step-by-step guide to help you find your perfect match and provide a loving home for one of our precious animals. Our dedicated team is here to support you every step of the way, from your initial interest to the joyful day you bring your new friend home.
How to Adopt: A Step-By-Step Guide:
1. Browse Our Selection: Visit our Animals page and use the menu to view the various pets we have available. Choose between cats and dogs to narrow your search.
2. Expression of Interest: Found a pet that captures your heart? Reach out to us for an Expression of Interest (EOI) form to initiate the process.
3. Patience is a Virtue: We meticulously review every EOI to ensure each animal goes to the right home. Thank you for your patience during this critical stage.
4. Meet Your Potential Pet: If your EOI is approved, we'll organise a Meet & Greet session. It’s a great opportunity for both you and the animal to see if it’s a perfect match.
5. Adoption Application & Home Review: If you're ready to move forward, you'll need to complete our adoption application and agree to a home review.
6. Review & Approval: Your application and home review will be assessed to guarantee a secure, loving environment for your potential pet.
7. Adoption Fee: Upon approval, you'll be required to pay the non-negotiable adoption fee. This fee directly supports our animal care efforts.
8. Welcome Home: Once the fee is processed, we'll coordinate the special day when you can bring your new pet home.
