About Yo Yo
Handsome Yoyo is a loyal nearly 8 year old golden Labrador with bounding loving personality looking for his forever home. Yoyo loves to be amongst his foster family, intrigued on what is going on; he is never far away wagging his tail and a huge happy Labby smile
Yoyo is currently being fostered in a family with 3 children, the youngest being 5 years old and a foster sister, a very loving border collie.
Yoyo enjoys short walks, where he is full of energy and excited to explore. He is initially a bit strong on the lead but being 8 years old tires pretty quickly. He loves to snooze in the sun in his warm and cozy bed. Loves to watch his foster family from his bed or eagerly follow you so as not to miss any of the action. Based on him being quite strong on lead when walking he will require some additional training in this area
Interactions with other animals:
Yoyo loves to have short bursts of play with his foster sister, whether that's a bit of chassy in the backyard or a game of “I’m going to catch you”! He loves playing a gentle mouthy mouthy with his foster doggo sister but never anything too rough
Yoyo loves interacting with other dogs, keen to meet any new friends. He can be very excitable but only to sniff and say a big hello and some happy playful barking. Slow interactions work best for friends of Yoyo. Yoyo hasn’t interacted with any cats since being in his foster home, so we’re not too sure about that.
Yoyo is a very loving boy. He likes to be close to everyone especially if pats are on offer. He is happy to lay in his bed and snooze while his foster family goes along their days, checking in occasionally with that wagging tail just in case there are some snacks being offered.
Yoyo's foster family have been working on commands with him, he is great at sitting when asked. Stay is one that they have been working on with him. He can be excited to great if there has been some time apart, with firm words he calms down quickly. And as we said earlier he does need some training on lead walking as he does pull in excitement
Yoyo's coat is very low maintenance, being short and easy to care for. He is completely toilet trained and hasn’t had any inside accidents since being in foster care. He is a very routine based pup and is great at letting you know when he needs to go.
Yo Yo did have a “hot spot” at the base of his tail upon arrival so it has been treated and all clear but his coat has not yet fully grown back in this area
Yoyo sleeps in the laundry at his foster home, and we don’t hear a peep from him. He goes to bed around 10:30pm and will happily sleep until his family is up between 5-7am.
Yoyo is a very independent boy, who spends most of his days going between his inside bed and outside bed, with bursts of energy with his foster sister. We've noticed that Yoyo can be a bit barky when he can see people outside his yard that he wants to play with, though this is reducing as he has become more comfortable with his surroundings. He is a quiet boy inside the home and seems to only bark when he can see people through the fence that he wants to meet lol
We believe Yoyo hasn't had a lot of exercise in his time before foster care. He is great on the lead, whilst being a bit pulley initially he does settle down. We have found that short walks on grass or softer surfaces to be more gentle on his paw pads whilst adapting to more exercise. He did intimately have some soreness on his paws from walking on concrete paths that we assume he had only been on grass prior and this has now resolved. We are finding that walking on grass and gently getting his paw pads used to rougher surfaces is working well for him
We have started him on the supplement Antinol Rapid which is great for dogs entering maturity for both skin and joint care
Yoyo happily travels. He has had some shorter trips in the car and longer traveling up to 2 hrs with no issue, perfect time for a few zzzzzzz’s.
Food:
Yoyo is fed twice daily on premium dry food. When he first arrived he was daily overweight so we have worked hard to reduce this and he is now in perfect weight condition . He is not a pig by any ,eans which is unusual for a Lab lol and not aggressive around food with his foster sister either
Yoyo is great inside, he will walk around and check out what everyone is up to and once he has worked out everyone's movements he is happy to settle down on his bed and watch the fun from there, unless his cheeky foster sister is up for a play.
