About Theodore
Theodore is only just 11 months old.
His owner - no sooner did she get him from the breeder - was diagnosed with a life-threatening illness and spent more time in hospital and treatment than at home and he was cared for by family friends.
That was not how she planned her life with her new pup to turn out and the heartbreaking decision was made to do what's best for him and let him go to find Theodore a new home.
He is a very large pup, at 11 months he is 94cm at the shoulder and he will have a lot more growing to do before he reaches his full height.
Unfortunately - due to many training opportunities missed - he is now looking for a Great Dane experienced home where training, enrichment and lots of adventures will form part of his normal week.
Theodore does not like to be separated from his owner and will join into the neighbourhood conversation of his fellow doggie friends. He only does that when he is bored though. His current carer has a camera and when he is getting checked up upon, he is usually asleep.
Theodore is not destructive other than the normal ripping up cardboard etc. He loves his soft toys and treasures them. He does love to dig a little hole here and there but that is nothing out of the norm.
When he is out and about on a training walk – he walks beautifully on lead if there are no distractions - he is a quick learner.
One big flaw though ... he has Zero Recall when he is off lead when his attention is grabbed by something else. (we tried off leash at the beach and on carer’s acreage property with a dam)
Work is needed in that area.
Theodore would love a female doggie friend. He is good with cats too - a little inquisitive - but a little reminder and he straight away moves onto the next thing that grabs his attention.
He is good with the little children in the house, but they are only young, and he is very big and towers over them and the kids do try to avoid him.
He is not a fence jumper - acreage height fencing will suffice.
He would love to have someone at home more often than not but with a doggie companion he reckons he can make it through the day.
