There really is nothing better than being greeted at the door by a sweet soul and waggly little tail - and that is what you get every time with Terry. He came to us with his bonded buddy Scooter after their owner went into care. Now he has lost his lifelong bonded buddy and needs a family to fill the big space in his heart. He is a gentle boy who will happily snuggle at your side or follow you around the house. Terry loves to sleep and loves a back scratch. He is very laid back and easy to look after. Terry doesn’t seem overly protective of his food or space and has had a very successful introduction to his foster carer’s family. We haven’t heard him bark yet and he probably needs less exercise than most as he’s an old gentleman who likes to stop and smell the roses. He is happy to use a dog door and quite clean inside.
Terry seems to be a little lost when at home alone since the loss of his bonded buddy, so maybe introducing him to some new friends will also help cheer him up. Maybe a gentle doggy companion at home would allow Terry to help make him open up and show his true doggy personality. He does get anxious if left alone for more than hour so company is really important for his wellbeing.
He would be a fabulous companion for an elderly person or couple and welcome their family for visits, especially if they already have another dog make him feel properly at home. Can you help Terry find his new home?
No cats for Terry.
Please note: our dogs are not available for interstate adoption. We also do not adopt to people under the age of 25 years.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped,
wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals,
surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm
testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If
a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
Medical notes
Weight: 7.6kg
Health: Terry has a tremor in his back leg we have not been able to track a reason for and may benefit from arthritis injections.
Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.
