PROFILE AND NEEDS IN A HOME
Meet our affectionate lady, Evie! From slightly timid beginnings, after being found abandoned in a tip, she has blossomed into a love-filled companion who craves your company. Her transformation has been truly heartwarming to watch, gradually shifting from a shy, retiring girl into a 100% lap dog that's always up for a cuddle.
Evie's favourite pastime is, undoubtedly, following her carer around everywhere. Once she feels comfortable with you, she won't hesitate to flip over for a belly rub whenever she catches your eye. Not to forget her keenness for a good game of tug-of-war! Her playful nature only adds to the charm of this delightful dog.
When it comes to her new family, she's looking for folks who are full of patience and understanding. Evie appreciates a gentle approach and a bit of space to adjust at her own pace. When visitors enter the home initially, she might express a bit of anxiety with some barking. But don't worry; she warms up quite quickly, usually within 10 minutes, so long as people don't rush the interaction.
The command she has learned to follow most readily is "come." Though, quite frankly, you may never need to use it because she'll likely always be at your side!
As sweet as she is, because of her timid nature, she would be better suited to a home without young children or visiting younger grandchildren. However, children around the age of 12 and above who can understand and respect her space may be ok.
Currently, Evie lives with other dogs and has shown that another friendly dog's companionship helps to build her confidence.
She'd also appreciate a home where her human family members are around most of the time.
Evie loves her walks, however, becomes a bit anxious when she sees other dogs and can react a bit, understandably as we are sure that she never got out of the backyard in her previous home. She's been working on this, and her new family must be willing to continue this training using only force-free, reward-based training methods.
As with all of our dogs, Evie must have access inside the home at all times. She must be permitted to cuddle on the couch once she feels comfortable, and she would love to share the bedroom space with you for a good night's rest.
If you're ready to open your heart to a gentle soul that has a lot of love to give, then Evie is waiting for you.
If you would like to meet Evie please send us some info on yourself and the home you are able to provide including your location, contact number, your dog and any other pets (if any), family members, lifestyle, exercise and mental stimulation you will provide, how often Evie would be alone, where she will have access in the home, where Evie would go if you went away and could not take her with you, ability to cover et expenses and any other information you wish to provide.
