About Duke
Howdy there!
Name's Duke, and I'm as country as they come. Don't let the fancy mix of Kelpie and Blue Heeler fool ya-I'm a down-to-earth dog who's happiest when I'm out and about, explorin' the great outdoors with my pack.
If you're the kinda family who prefers hiking trails over dustin' shelves, then I reckon we'll get along just fine. None of that fussin' about cleanin' the house for me, no sir. I'd much rather be hangin' out in the shed, catchin' a footy game with my kinfolk.
Now, I ain't one to brag, but I'm great with kids. They can tug on my ears or throw a ball for me, and I'll just wag my tail and enjoy their company. And don't you worry 'bout them feline critters-I've lived with cats before, though I reckon a slow introduction with a new kitty would suit me just fine.
Oh, and did I mention I'm a sociable pup? I get on right well with other dogs, and I'm currently part of a play group with a buddy while I'm waitin' for my forever home. But don't you think for a second that I'm just gonna laze about. Nope, I need plenty of activities and walks to keep me busy, explorin' this big ol' world and takin' in all its sights and smells.
So, if you're lookin' for a country boy like me to join your adventures, well, what are you waitin' for? Let's hit the road and make some memories together!
To book a meet and greet with Duke please phone 5441-2209 or email barcreception@bendigo.vic.gov.au . Due to the high volume of emails received, enquiries with a request for a specific appointment with phone details included will receive a response as priority over generic applications which state they are interested in meeting an animal.

Adoption details
BARC adoption officers will work with you to help you find a dog or cat that matches your needs, they will discuss things like yard fencing, exercise requirements, other pets and family members, lifestyle factors, and breed experience. To help make this as quick and easy as possible, we ask you complete and adoption questionnaire (located on our website, or you can complete on when you visit). This helps ensure that we are introducing you to the most suitable animals we have available.
We encourage all members of the household to attend a meet and greet with a pet prior to adopting an animal. If the animal being adopted is a dog, we will also require existing dogs in the household to attend the shelter as part of the meet and greet.
Holds can not be placed on animals over the phone, and can only be applied at the discretion of management.
