About Borris
From his carer:
Borris is a gorgeous 6-year-old Australian Silky Terrier.
He is full of beans and has an endless capacity for cuddles.
He loves his walks, sniffs and meeting new humans.
While Borris adores chasing a ball, he can get overstimulated, so we have been taking away that privilege for now - resetting boundaries…
Although this bouncy little man enjoys pushing the limits, he thrives on structure and firm, consistent boundaries. To that end, he can bark a little to get some attention – a work in progress…
Borris travels beautifully in the car and loves to explore new places (which also means he’s always on the lookout for any opportunity to escape through an open door or over a low fence)!
Borris is wonderful with children – incredibly tolerant and always game for joining them on an adventure. But he’s also just as happy hanging out with adults.
He likes to be active but, after being raised with a young family, is now learning to enjoy relaxing.
He sleeps very contentedly in a crate at night or during the day, if left alone for short periods.
Weighing just 6-7kg, Borris is not hugely food motivated and does seem to have quite a delicate stomach. Cuddles and walks are his love language! He enjoys two structured walks a day.
Borris is a delightful little man and has already given our family much joy. He is destined to be some lucky person or family’s much-loved best friend.
Borris would be best in a home with children or visiting children (of all ages) and where someone is around a lot.
Borris is not tested with cats.
Medical notes
Due to previously having surgery for kidney stones, he is on a predominantly dry food diet with only a little bit of wet food allowed as per Vet’s recommendations.
His biscuit brand is either Hills or Royal Canin dry biscuits for dogs under 10kg.
Adoption details
We list animals for adoption on Pet Rescue as well as on our own Animals-in-Need-Brisbane website. We talk with people who contact about an animal to see what their needs and situation are. Our emphasis is on getting the right animal for the people and the right people for the animal. If everyone's needs are met things usually work out well.
If the situation sounds good we arrange a meeting. If all goes well we let people try the animal out for a couple of weeks to ensure that everyone is happy.
We keep records of all adopters, follow up to ensure all is well and undertake to take back any animal if circumstances change.
