About Fruitcake
Make sure you are sitting down as you read this as Fruitcake is just so divine that you may just be swept off your feet!
This beautiful girl got the name Fruitcake as she was born on Christmas day and she is a true little gift. She is such a cuddly girl who loves spending time in your lap and will actively seek out attention from her people. But that cuddle time is reserved for in between all the adventure! Fruitcake is actually a bundle of energy who loves to play and explore. You can’t help but smile as you watch her frolic around having fun.
Fruitcake’s cuteness attracts a lot of attention, and she soaks it up. She loves meeting new people and getting all the scratches and pats. Fruitcake also seems to particularly like children. While in foster care, she has learnt to enjoy visits from another small friendly dog. The two enjoy zooming around the yard and playing chasies. Fruitcake also likes a good rumble game and enjoys playing with toys.
This girl is off to a great start with her training thanks to her foster carer. She is a smart pup who is willing to learn. She knows how to sit for a treat and take it gently, is learning to wait for her food and has learnt that back means to move away. Fruitcake is progressing well with her toilet training, but this will need to be continued in her new home. She has been crate trained and happily goes off to her crate for a rest when having down time. It is important that her new family are committed to continuing her training – she may be little, but she is still a dog who has to grow up to be a good little canine citizen. Fruitcake is good in the car and would love to be able to accompany her new family on outings and trips.
We are looking for a dog experienced home for Fruitcake where she will be a loved member of the family. She will need an active family who are home more often than not. Fruitcake can live with another adult friendly dog who is already trained and able to be a good role model for her as well as a fun playmate. She is also fine to live as an only dog as long as she is given the opportunity to have regular socialisation with other known friendly dogs, preferable in the form of playdates. Being an active girl, she will need daily exercise and mental stimulation to keep her healthy and happy throughout her life. Fruitcake will suit a range of living environments but there needs to be secure fencing that a small curious pup cannot squeeze through or under.
Fruitcake should be allowed inside to be with the family and will need a warm comfy bed inside to sleep on at night. Her mum was a chihuahua mix of some description and the father is unknown. We expect Fruitcake to be a small size when fully grown, under 10kg. This little girl is suitable to live with dog savvy children who are old enough to follow instructions reliably. She is too small to be inappropriately handled or carried by young children. Fruitcake is currently living with a cat harmoniously so is suitable to live with other types of pets with the appropriate training and guidance.
If you would like to make this beautiful little girl a part of your family, then please complete a Dog Adoption Enquiry form on the Fetching Dogs website as the first step. Please include plenty of details in your application about your previous dog experience, current household members and the type of lifestyle you can offer Fruitcake. We are operated by volunteers only and only have the resources to consider applications that provide sufficient information.

This puppy will be adopted out under a desexing contract that will require the dog to be desexed by a given age. The cost of desexing will be included as part of the adoption fee. A $250 desexing bond will be payable in addition to the adoption fee and will be refunded upon proof of desexing. This process is further discussed with successful applicants.
Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
