Meet Nell, a genuinely lovely dog who is a sweet & social girl...
About: Nell is a gentle girl who is funny, independent, friendly & happy. She has a lovely agreeable & affectionate nature coupled with playful confidence. A smart dog who is outgoing and engaging and very comfortable with herself & her surrounds.
Nell is suitable for first time dog owners, or those with experience. In terms of household, she is very suited to a home that is calm & quiet which will match her sweet and gentle nature.
A lover of exploring, Nell would make a great friend for people/families who lead an active & outdoorsy lifestyle.
Ideal Home: Nell is suitable to live in a townhouse, house or a farm/acreage, yard size doesn’t concern her as long as the yard has high, secure fencing.
As a lover of people, Nell would love to be able to have access to inside the home as well as out so that she can get the best of both worlds & feel like a part of the family.
Family: Nell is open to meet kids of any age, thanks to her easy-going attitude.
She is also suitable for those who work full time hours.
Furry Friends: Nell is open to meet other dogs, she interacts with them socially & respectably. However she is an independent girl; she doesn't need another dog in her life or home to make her feel special but she is very social and will be friendly & playful towards any dog she meets. Nell has grown quite fond of Cuddle Pie (ID: 35623) and she loves walking with her.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how Nell would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the direction of her new owners.
As always, we recommend that when introducing your new & existing animals that it is does slowly & that each animals boundaries are respected.
Training & Development: Nell would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to keep those basic commands on fleek as well as group classes to really define the social skills that she already has.
Nell is a quiet girl who rarely barks from what we have seen and with a little training could be the type of dog that you could take to a dog friendly café or social event.
Nell loves treats & takes them gently from your hand too & she is very responsive to training when the treat bag comes out. Nell knows her name and also knows how to ‘sit’ and is quickly learning more tricks & commands. Nell is also toilet/house trained.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: With medium energy needs Nell would benefit from walking, exercise or general play from 20-30mins a day to keep her happy & healthy.
Nell walks like a dream on a lead & has mastered loose leash walking, so she walks with minimal pulling, and is best walked on a lead & collar.
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
