About Charlie
Hi, I'm Charlie. The new love of your life!
I am a friendly and happy dog who loves being indoors, and enjoying the company of another senior doggo. I am quiet, calm and easy just love to be in your company laying around.
I am mostly housetrained though need a reminder to go outside, I can use a doggy door well but do struggle with stairs a little due to my age; and I am fine jumping up on the couch or bed if I'm allowed too.
I can get a little anxious if left home alone for more than a few hours at a time, and will do a boundary check and try dig out under the fence if I get desperate. I prefer to be left indoors where I can nap in comfort.
I love going for walks, and walk really well on a lead. I wouldn't be suited to off-leash walks as I may run off.
I have suffered with a chronic allergic skin condition that has been left untreated for a long time, resulting in about 60% hairloss particularly on my legs and underbelly which can make me quite itchy and uncomfortable when not managed. I also had a bit of an ear infection upon entry.
I received a Cytopoint injection (allergy needle and alternative to Cortisone) and will require ongoing care and maintenance to keep on top of this. At the moment I am being bathed in Malaseb medicated shampoo, having home-made meals including Omega Oils and probiotics (a grain-free is recommended). This may require a vaccination every 2-3 months at the worst case, at about $150-200 per dose. Alternatively it could be treated with daily Apoquel tablets which can be bought by the bottle online. My new owner needs to be aware that there are ongoing costs associated with adopting me, but I hope I can find the right family whom have the ability to take care of this for me, and understand that you can't put a price on love.-
