About Sparks
Sparks is an affectionate, good-natured boy of nine months old. He is a playful and sometimes goofy boy who loves the company of both people and dogs. He has slotted into his foster home easily and enjoys every experience, whether it’s playing with his foster brothers, going for a walk, a swim or taking a ride in the car. Sparks is very attached to humans and is most comfortable when he is with them.
Sparks enjoys games, whether retrieving a ball or a toy or playing tug-of-war. He loves water too and thoroughly enjoys a swim in the creek.
Sparks loves to go for walks and walks quite well on lead. He needs to have a walk every day plus have some games in the backyard but once he’s had that basic exercise, he is not otherwise a high energy dog. He knows how to sit and drop, and has excellent recall. He will be easy to train further and is always keen to please. He can sometimes be apprehensive about new situations, and will do best if his adopters continue to expose him to new experiences to build his confidence and to build his bond with them.
Sparks gets on very well with his doggy foster brothers and will do best with a confident and playful doggy friend in his forever home. An older or inactive dog might find his playfulness annoying, but Sparks is not rough or physical in his play.
Sparks is friendly towards cats, and behaves well around horses. With appropriate introductions, there’s no reason why he wouldn’t also behave well around other animals.
Sparks is happy to spend time in the backyard with his foster brothers, but does not like to be left without his people around for long periods. At this stage he can get quite anxious if he thinks he has been left alone, even if the other dogs are with him. This is probably the result of a lack of consistent training in the past, but once he feels secure again in his new home, this will be overcome. In the meantime, he will need secure fencing to keep him safe.
Sparks still has some puppy-ish habits such as digging the occasional hole and chewing random loose items, but if he has plenty of company, mental stimulation and activity in his day he will soon outgrow this phase.
Sparks is now ready to find his forever home. His ideal home is one where his people will have had experience with young dogs, and where he can be with his person or family for much of the time. Sparks will be a wonderful companion dog for anyone who is looking for a loyal, loving best friend and playmate.
