About Snowflake
Hi all you dog lovers, my name is Snowflake! & I am as gentle as a Snowflake.
I am a super friendly with impeccable manners. I am the lady you can leave alone in the house and come home to find everything as you left it. Well except a cushion or two that I have moved on the lounge to be most comfortable while watching TV. I am house trained. Never will you come home to find I have done my personal business inside. I am like no other Collie/Cattle dog you have ever met. I don’t chew things, jump up or need exercise. I am content with just following my humans and being close by their side. Although I do love going for drives in the car. If I love you, I will be the most loyal companion you have ever had. I am not a fussy girl and will eat whatever is on the menu. I do appreciate having biscuits available 24/7 as like many seniors I prefer to graze rather than have a big meal.
Being friendly to others is no issue. I get along well with doggies of all shapes and sizes and enjoy the company of cats. Although I have found pups a little tiresome after an hour or two. Water is one of my favourite things. You turn a hose on, and I am there leaping high to grab the water as it comes out. My foster mum does this every morning with me and ends up soaked, so don’t wear your Sunday best when watering the grass or garden. I haven’t had the chance to go swimming, but I feel I would enjoy a swim in a dam or at the beach.
My only flaw is that I am a climber. I can scale an 8foot fence in two seconds flat if you leave me outside and drive away. This is the reason I am perfectly house trained. It doesn’t mean you need a 10foot fence to keep me in either. My foster only has a 4foot front fence and I have never gone over it because she is home when I am in the front yard, but when she leaves me in the backyard when she goes inside, I scale the 7foot gate that separates the front and back yards and knock on the verandah door for her to let me in. Cheeky, I know. But I just love to be near my human friends. When she goes to work, I am locked on the front verandah with a couple of cats, and all is well when she comes home.
When it comes to the perfect ‘furever home’ for me, it will be a really hard choice to make. Because retired people will have all the time in the world to love & spoil me, a young family will have children that will give belly rubs and curl up with me, and someone on their own will let me share their bed. Gosh, its tough when one would fit perfectly just about anywhere.
If you think you are my ‘furever home’, please apply to adopt me!MEET & GREET
We encourage all adopters to meet their new addition before committing to adoption. This gives you a chance to see if the animal might be a good fit, and if a dog, to also introduce them to your other animals. Just like we don't expect all humans to get along, we expect the same for animals.
ADOPTION AGREEMENT
At CQASI our animals future is paramount and we want to see them put into their forever homes. Every detail on our agreement is used to ensure your home is suitable for a new addition, that you agree to the terms and conditions and we also use some of the info for owner transfer after the adoption trial period (mentioned further down)
HOME/YARD CHECK
All our cats are indoor/outdoor enclosure only so all house checks are done when your feline friend is being dropped off to join your household. If the barking variety is what you are looking at adding to your home then one of our volunteers will contact you to arrange a day/time for a yard check. This is to check your fencing is suitable, see where your new canine will be sleeping and just get a general feel for the home they will be going to. All our adoptions tend to be local, but we have connections all over QLD so are more than happy to consider all serious adoption enquiries. A house/yard check will be done if we can get a local member (if adoption enquiry is not Rockhampton based) to assist.
ADOPTION FEE
Adoption fee is to be paid prior to collecting your new family member. The adoption fee is used to cover the vet work your new addition received. This includes - but is not limited to Desexing, vaccination/s, microchipping, parasite treatment/prevention (heart worm testing for dogs only).
TWO WEEK TRIAL
All our animals have a two week trial period. This gives your new addition time to settle into your family life and to give you a chance to ensure they are exactly what you want. If they are not settling in then we will arrange to take them back into care and you will be refunded the adoption fee. If after the two weeks they are exactly what you wanted then we will send you all their paperwork including sterilisation certificate, vaccination certificate and microchip transfer form.
Our aim is a beautiful goodbye into their new home. We treat any potential adoption with the upmost care as the animals safety and welfare is our number one concern.
