About Splash
This boy made quite the “Splash” into foster care recently with his adorable teddy bear looks and amazing nature - he sure won over his foster carers very quickly! Splash is a wonderfully happy, confident and social pup who absolutely will never say no to some affection. His little tail never stops wagging. He is the perfect mix of brains and cute fluff, who can resist this boy?
Splash came into care with his siblings from a rural NSW facility as they were an accidental litter. His parents were an odd match to say the least. His dad is a longer haired, small white fluffy who looks Maltese in type. His mum is a working breed type possible with other breeds mixed in. Due to the disparity in sizes between the parents, it’s difficult for us to precisely say how big Splash will get, but he was only a small 1.2kg at 6 weeks old. We have had litters with similar mixes before and some pups ended up small and others medium, so any potential home interested will have to be happy with a dog who is between small and medium size.
Usually, puppies in these situations can be a little undersocialised; however, Splash and his siblings hit the ground running. These pups clearly had lots of good socialisation and handling prior to coming into care. Splash has not ventured into the big wide world much due to his young age and vaccination status, but on trips to safe places his confidence hasn’t wavered and he is always friendly with everyone he meets. Splash’s new owners will need to continue his socialisation with the big wide world and ensure he gets to go on many fun adventures and try new things.
Splash has been in foster care with one sibling and a number of adult dogs ranging from small to large and he has interacted really well with all of them. He is particularly attached to one of the whippets in the household and can often be found playing or snuggling with him. If he over steps the boundaries with the old dog in the house and gets a warning growl, he understands immediately to stop which is very impressive for a pup his age. Splash will need continued socialisation with known friendly dogs preferably in settings like play dates or pack walks, rather than at dog parks with unknown dogs so he continues to have positive experiences. He can be rehomed as an only dog or with another well trained, adult dog. In either case, he will need someone home most of the time due to his young age.
Splash has been described as intelligent by his carer. He understands routine and picks up on patterns in the household quickly. He is a dream to have around the house and is sleeping through his crate overnight. His toilet training has begun, so if he is properly managed and taken outside regularly, he is very aware where he needs to go and will not toilet inside. Splash will require a home to get him up to speed on basic training and begin leash work. He requires a home committed to his development past the standard puppy school program so that he grows up to a well rounded adult dog.
Splash will be moderately active and will need a home who will provide him with plenty of daily physical and mental stimulation to satisfy him. He is inquisitive, energetic and cuddly by nature making him the perfect mix of go out and get them during the day, and couch snuggles at night. Even though he is small and fluffy, he has desires beyond that of a lap dog even though he loves a snuggle after the day’s activities are done. He will do well in any home types such as house, unit or acreage and will be able to be integrated with other species of animals easily. Any children in the household must have prior experience with small puppies and understand they are not to be treated like toys.

This puppy will be adopted out under a desexing contract that will require the dog to be desexed by a given age. The cost of desexing will be included as part of the adoption fee. A $250 desexing bond will be payable in addition to the adoption fee and will be refunded upon proof of desexing. This process is further discussed with successful applicants.
Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
