About Zorba
If you are interested in Zorba, or any of our Greyhounds, we require you to fill in our application form - https://forms.gle/3bTG6XWQv49RPxJV6
At four years old, Zorba is a happy and confident greyhound who adores people. He loves affection and pats and will cuddle up close whenever he can. He enjoys playing with toys and is a very good boy because he does not play to destroy them.
He settled into his foster home very quickly and has developed good bonds with the family, including the 7 and 12 year old children. He has also developed a lovely friendship with his foster brother, a fellow rescued greyhound. So, because of his confidence, Zorba would do well in a home where he was an only dog or he would easily settle in with another greyhound.
His foster family has two indoor guinea pigs and a kitty. Zorba has shown very little interest in the piggies and never bothers with them. He has spent time very successfully with the family cat - the foster family have given him daily opportunities to interact with her in safe and supervised ways. He has never chased her or shown any aggression so with continued support and supervision, there is great potential for him to prove himself as a cat friendly hound.
He currently spends weekdays alone with his foster brother whilst the family go to work and school - this time is spent outdoors in the garden. He likes to relax in a dog bed in an under-cover area whilst he waits for the humans to return - and when they arrive back he is always super excited to see them! He joyfully dashes from person to person for pats and excited greetings! He is a very faithful friend to the people that he loves!
Zorba has not demonstrated any resource guarding, food aggression or sleep startle. There is perfect peace and harmony between the hounds and the family and Zorba is a happy and non dominant dog.
Zorba is very clever and was toilet trained very easily and can hold his need for toileting for several hours over night. He goes to the door when he wants to go outside to the garden. He always does his business in the correct place and when he's finished, one of his favourite pastimes is doing zoomies around the grass! And he loves to play "fetch" with a ball or frisbee - he quickly learned to retrieve the toy and return it so it could be thrown for him again. Therefore, he would be better suited to a house with outdoor space as opposed to an apartment.
The word "walkies" and a shake of the lead makes him very excited! He loves to be out and about having adventures in the local streets and even enjoys a stroll along the beach. He walks with lovely lead manners. And he enjoys a car ride too. He is very relaxed in the car and will just lie down and sleep for the whole journey.
Zorba lives in a quiet area but some of his outings and walks have been in busy environments. So he would settle in any home, city or quieter suburbs included.
All things considered, Zorba is a happy and loving dog who will enrich the life of any individual, couple or family who are lucky enough to adopt him as their very own!
