About Daphne
All About Me and My Unique Personality:
Hello, I'm Daphne Dachshund! I'm the cutest little ball of fun and love. I have a quirky personality and make my foster mum laugh all the time. I love my toys and enjoy running around and carrying them around the yard and love the odd game of fetch as well. I love to go for walks and recently discovered I'm a big fan of puppucinos at the local café. I love my humans; cuddling and playing with people is the best part of my day. I can get a little possessive of my favourite people and will do my best to protect them if I feel they are in danger (with my teeny tiny legs and teeth of course). In saying this, I never bite or hurt anyone, just give a little warning growl. This is very typical of my breed however so nothing to be concerned about. I love to lay on my back and have my belly rubbed and will quickly fall asleep in your lap.
My Ideal Home:
My ideal home would be with someone who is relatively active that can take me on walks and play with me. Given my legs are super tiny, I do tire out quickly though so don't need a great deal of exercise. I really just want to be around my humans as much as possible; I will follow you around the house and snuggle up to you whenever I can. Someone who is home regularly to spend time with me would be ideal. I need to be allowed to come inside and sleep inside with my family (I am pretty good at not going to the toilet inside, I just need to be put out in the yard regularly to remind me). I feel safe sleeping in my crate at night or will gladly snuggle up to you in bed as well. My home needs to be loving, with my human/s around me to play with me and give me cuddles. I would be well suited as an only pet for a single person, couple or retirees who are semi-active.
What is Known About My Background:
Not much is known about my background but it's clear I have been loved and spoiled at my previous home. I came into the pound with a Neapolitan Mastiff dog and we were best friends. The pound environment was very scary and overwhelming for me and I didn't feel safe venturing out of my kennel without my Mastiff friend. Unfortunately we had to be separated and I became very timid and withdrawn. I was placed on some anti-anxiety medication to help me settle my nerves, which I am currently still taking but can be weaned off these once I settle into my forever home. I am now happily living at my foster home while I wait for the perfect home to adopt me.
How Do I Interact with Kids, Dogs, Cats and Other Pets:
I currently live with my foster dog brother and 2 cats. While I am happy in the yard with my foster dog brother, and will go on walks and spend time with him, I'm not overly fussed on playing with him, preferring to play on my own with people. I can sometimes get a little snappy if I feel another animal is encroaching in my space while I'm getting cuddles or eating, but I never hurt anyone, just give a little warning growl or snap. I haven't spent much time around children but little children may startle me so I am probably best to reside in a child free home or with older kids who can respect my boundaries. My foster mum thinks I would be happiest as an only pet or with another small dog or older cat who will keep their distance.
