About Kit & Wilson
These two handsome fellas, Kit and Wilson, a pair of middle-aged gentlemen (goofballs) looking for a quiet family home where they can get lots of snuggles to enjoy their mature years in dignity, comfort and stability.
Kit is a big black domestic short hair with one white whisker, and Wilson is a fluffy tabby-marked half-Maine coon. The boys have been together since they were about 10 weeks and six months old respectively, and they are now 12 years old.
Wilson is an absolute smooch and would like anyone to be his friend, while Kit is a little more reserved until he knows someone... and a little more dignified in his requests for attention that Wilson.
Both boys have grown up with and lived around a variety of animals (rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, quail, chickens, small dogs), with the exception of large breed dogs. Wilson is happy to be friends and cuddle with dogs once he gets to know them, while Kit is tolerant of polite dogs that respect his space, but less interested in knowing them.
Unfortunately due to some major life changes and circumstances beyond their control, Kit and Wilson's family have had to make the difficult decision to find them a new family and home that can offer them the environment and lifestyle that these two boys deserve and will thrive in. The lads are sadly not coping in their current home due to these changes, despite extensive efforts to make adjustments and accommodations to make them happy.
Kit and Wilson would love nothing better than to be able to spend their time enjoy cuddles and pats, curling up on the couch to watch tele with their humans, snoozing in the sun (indoors, or in an enclosed yard), and playing with each other (or some random tiny object, like a scrap of fluff, in Wilson's case) when the mood takes them.
They are excellent bed warmers and Kit takes his duty of escorting everyone to the toilet during the night VERY seriously.
If you are looking for low-key love and companionship, then look no further. These two boys will there for you, and Kit will even meet you at the door when you come home.
Homes with boisterous environments, highly excitable children, highly excitable/barking dogs or other cats are not suitable for these boys. They are indoor-only or enclosed outdoor access (catio, enclosed yard).
Adoption fee: $300 (both boys and microchip transfer)
Medical notes
Both boys are desexed and require a wet food diet - we would prefer to see them remain on a balanced raw diet if possible - to prevent urinary problems.
Kit has previously had most of his teeth removed (except canines) due to recurrent gingivitis when he was younger.
Wilson has had some teeth previously removed.
Both boys are getting a standard senior blood panel done, which will be made available to their adopting family, as a point of reference for their new vet. There are currently no medical concerns for either boy.
Due to thickness of his fur, it is recommended that Wilson be clipped every 6-8 months to maintain his coat if regular brushing is not controlling matting - especially on his belly/armpit areas. He is used to having his fur clipped and is comfortable with the process (if anything, getting him to sit still instead of rolling around to have his belly rubbed is the biggest challenge).
Adoption details
Applicants will under-go a screening process and meet & greet process before an adoption is approved. A house inspection may be required for cats that will be indoor-outdoor cats.
