About Billie
Billie wants to meet everyone in the world at least twice, and once you have met her you are now legally required to never stop patting her. We don't make the rules, we just help to enforce them.
This social butterfly is a pretty little lady who knows how to use it to her advantage! With Billie by your side, you will very quickly make new friends about the neighbourhood, and her motto is 'friendship comes in all shapes and sizes' - Boston Terriers, Italian Greyhounds, Staffies, Billie is polite and sweet with them all! But at the end of the day it's the humans on the other end of the leash that she is most interested in. Sometimes if her canine friends are a bit too energetic, Billie can find it hard to contain her excitement and can get the zoomies - it would be best that she goes walking with calm dogs so she doesn't get too riled up when on lead.
This apartment dweller loves her walks, and gets out for at least two 45 minute strolls a day. She loves to remind you to stop and live in the moment, if there is something interesting to watch (like an exciting game of football in the park) she will sit down to enjoy the view. She's also a huge fan of the car, and can be difficult to coax out once the ride is finished. Her ideal home would be happy to take her for a daily drive (otherwise she'll lead you to the neighbourhood cars and attempt to get in with anyone who will open a door).
Calm and confident with street noises, stairs, and picking up new cues quickly, this smarty pants is still learning to be brave when left alone. She can currently do around two and a half hours by herself if left with a food enrichment toy, so she would best suit a WFH or retiree lifestyle where she has humans around more often than not, and can accompany her people out on errands (as she is such a sweet and social girl, she makes the perfect co-pilot for all the running around you need to do).
As she has settled in, Billie has shown her foster carer what a snuggly snoot she can be - she hopes in her forever home that she may be invited onto couches or up into the bed in the mornings for a cuddle, she will happily hop into her own bed when asked though. Sweet, social, and with the most beautiful face, you'll want to get an application in quick!

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, some can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour.
As a result we look to rehome dogs into households where they are not left on their own for more than 4 hours per day on a regular basis, without either people or another dog for company. We are happy discuss strategies such as a dog walker or doggy day care. Going to work with you is also a great option

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
