About Hemlock
*In foster care in Lewisham, Sydney*
Hemlock is a quiet and soft-hearted companion who's been a wonderful work-from-home desk cat in his foster home! After his morning play, feed and groom, he settles in adorably by the keyboard for a good nap, stirring now and then to nudge you for pats.
He loves window-watching... both virtual computer windows and actual building windows!
This well-mannered kitten has lived both with other cats and on his own, and has shown he's fairly adaptable in both cases. With other cats, Hemlock has done well with slow introductions and is balanced in his play style, taking turns when wrestling and understanding when the other cat needs a break :)
With people, he tends to pick favourites! While he forms bonds with the whole household, he tends to connect closely to one person in particular. Earning this guy's love takes time, but is well worth it. He doesn't care much for strangers - he's a true introvert who only needs his inner circle for a purrfectly fulfilled life!
Hemlock is a bit of a good-luck charm -- before he was rescued, he had an injury in his left eye and it was a toss-up whether he was going to be able to keep it. After being a very good boy who put up with 4x daily eye ointments and pills, it's healed in the best case scenario and this lucky guy has been cleared by the vets to continue as a two-eyed cat. He does have some scarring in his left eye, but this doesn't cause him any ongoing problems. (It's a battle scar! A reminder of how lucky and brave he's had to be early in his life!)
In his three months in foster care, Hemlock has proven himself to be great around the house. He uses his litter box well and doesn't make much of a mess, keeps himself clean and is generally a quiet, well-behaved cat. He'll suit most calm households looking for a sweet little kitten :) Hemlock was rescued from an outdoor cat colony and has adjusted well to an indoor-only life. He has a low-maintenance short coat and tabby and white markings. As with all young kittens, he will need continued love and guidance as he grows up to be the best cat he can be.
Like all Maggie's pets, Hemlock is microchipped, desexed and vaccinated.

MY IDEAL HOME: ... will be calm and peaceful - a safe haven where I can stretch out and get belly rubs from the people I love most in the world! I might take a little while to settle into my new surroundings, so I'll need patient humans who'll give me space and time to open up at my own pace.
MY ENERGY LEVEL: Medium, I'd say! I like to relax and take things easy for the most part, but sometimes I do get the classic kitten zoomies :)
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: I think I'd enjoy living with kids of at least high school age (12+) who'll be gentle and considerate with me.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: I get on fine with cats and would love a full-time playmate!
I haven't had the chance to meet any dogs yet.
Medical notes
Hemlock has some scarring in his left eye from an earlier injury, but this doesn't cause him any ongoing problems.

Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two-week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
