CAN YOU BE HOGAN’S HERO?
11-month-old Hogan has found himself in the shelter, very confused about where his family is, and where he belongs in the world, having been given up due to no fault of his own, Hogan needs a hero to take him in and show him just how great life can be.
Hogan is a big puppy, he hasn’t been taught manners, and we don’t believe he knows his true size, as a result he still exhibits typical puppy behaviours such as jumping up, mouthing, and snatching treats excitedly. Hogan wants to please and learns very quickly, he will need to be given clear boundaries and consistent training and feedback in his new home so that he can learn what behaviours are acceptable and improve on his impulse control.
When Hogan first entered the shelter, he was initially a little shy. Overtime, he has learned to make friends and enjoys meeting new people, giving them a friendly sniff, and accepting treats before jumping on them excitedly. Hogan is very affectionate and enjoys a pat, however is nervous with strangers touching his back end. Hogan is not suited to a home with children under 10 years old, all members of the household must have experience with large breed dogs.
Hogan is very clever and enjoys learning new things, although he has never been taught manners or much in the way of commands, he picks things up quickly and wants to please his people. Hogan is very food motivated and also enjoys playing with toys, he will do well with positive reinforcement training to shape his commands. Hogan will need regular training in the form of frequent, short training sessions – he would do well seeing a professional trainer so that he and his new family can learn together.
Hogan has little experience with the outside world, he hasn’t spent much time out of his backyard, and as such, everything is new and exciting for him, sometimes, a little overwhelming. Hogan pulls on lead, zigzagging all over the place trying to take in all the new smells. Hogan will need an owner physically capable of walking a strong, male dog whilst he works on his leash manners and impulse control on lead.
Hogan is very unsure of other dogs, despite living with another dog previously, he has not met many others and is fearful and worried about his interactions with them. Hogan will use his big bark to scare other dogs away and is reactive when another dog is around. Hogan will need slow exposure and socialisation in a controlled environment, for now, he is suited as the only dog in his new home and will need to keep his distance from others whilst he builds his confidence and then manners. Hogan is not tested with cats or other small pets.
Hogan is a young shepherd that will need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. Hogan would enjoy treat puzzles, games and enrichment activities to keep his quick mind busy and out of mischief. Hogan is happy being wherever his humans are, he has always been an outside dog, however loves being inside and included in activities. Hogan would love to be your adventure buddy during the day and then snuggle up with you on the couch at night.
This playful, goofball has so much potential and love to give, unfortunately up until now, he has been treated as a lawn ornament, not taken care of, and never been given the chance to thrive. Now is Hogan’s time, for a chance at happy ever after and to break out the shelter into a forever home.

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
Puppies (2 months to 4 months) - $1000
Puppies (4 to 6 months) - $800
Adolescents (6 months to 1 year) - $700
Mature (1 year to 6 years) - $600
