About Buddy
Oh my goodness! What an amazing boy is Buddy. He has battled through a horrid early life to now being on the cusp of finding his forever home!
So back to the beginning…..
Buddy was born to pure-bred Chihuahua parents, in a backyard breeders. His owner was an elderly man who intended to make lots of money by breeding dogs, but not doing anything with them.
Yep, ugh!
Anyway, Buddy was intended to be the sire of many many future puppies, so once he had finished feeding from his mother as a pup, the owner put him in a cage, and that’s where he stayed for around 8 months - alone - and the only human contact he had was when the old man’s cleaning lady spent time with the poor little fella.
The cleaning lady aka Good Samaritan was so upset by the situation, that she tried over and over again to persuade the man to give Buddy to her, and this was a dreadful life for the dog.
He would not listen, until his own health began to deteriorate and he couldn’t cope with the dogs at all.
He gave Buddy to her, and she contacted us for help.
I collected him and brought Buddy home.
Taking him out of the crate and into my house, he was literally frozen with fear, as stiff as a board.
Everything terrified him.
And so we have spent the past five months overcoming one fear at a time. He has made tremendous progress in every area, and I know with wonderful committed and loving forever parents, he will continue to blossom.
Buddy is a fabulous young boy, who is so happy to live in my house. He uses the doggie door to come and go as he pleases, and is completely toilet trained. He loves the other dogs, as you can see from the videos. He also adores his chewy toys. Food is probably his favourite thing in life, and he comes to wherever I am to remind me it’s ’dinner time.’
He travels well in the car and now comes with me to coffee dates, where he walks on leash and sits quietly while I chat.
He sleeps on his doggie bed in the lounge room all night, and by day he loves company, either from me or the dogs, and only barks at the kangaroos on dusk.
Buddy is still timid on first meeting new humans, with dogs he is super friendly.
He would like his new home to have humans who are around more often than not, and one where his family are willing to give him time to blossom while he is exposed to new experiences.
A home with another friendly dog or dogs would be great, and probably not with young children.
Please be aware we are in Moree, northern NSW, and if you are the successful adopter, you will need to drive to collect him.
This beautiful boy deserves the best life can offer - could that be with you??
