Meatball

This 7 y/o Frenchie has had a rough start to life, but it hasn’t dampened his spirit one bit, or affected how he loves (and loved to be loved!). He’s trusting and confident, cheeky but chilled. We think this special guy has been neglected for several years, but he’s really shining in foster with all the attention and structure.

Meatball is a gregarious fella and loves everyone he’s met so far. He’s great with kids and dogs, but his favourites are women of all ages. He plops his bum down on the footpath when he demands an audience with a woman that takes his fancy, and won’t move until he gets that pat. He hasn't been tested with cats, but he's been easy-going when we see them on walks.

He likes to stick by your side at home, always ready for cuddles, kisses or belly rubs, but also takes himself off for alone time to chill on his bed or outside.

We don’t think he’s had much training, but he’s learning well. He’s got “sit” and “place” sorted, and loves the treats that go with training. He’s getting there on his lead walks - he’s not a bad walker by any stretch, but is definitely curious about everything and everyone in this new, bigger world he’s in. He'd suit someone willing to put in some effort with training, with our suggested next goals being heel and recall, which we’re confident he’ll learn as he’s very food-driven, and loves being near his human.

Meatball has short little bursts of energy if you initiate playtime or go to the park, but you’ll mostly find him chilling out/asking for belly rubs and cuddles. Surprisingly he loves to play short games of fetch with a ball! Just a couple at a time, but still, we think that’s pretty rad.

He's excellent company and always has loads of little tippy taps whenever you come home. Coming from a neglectful background, meatball deserves a home where someone is around much more often than not, like a family or a single/couple where someone works from home. He's great company, and travels well in the car.

This is a very special little guy who deserves a very special home that will shower a neglected little guy with love, providing a safe and comfort-filled second half of life.

MY IDEAL HOME: Meatball would suit someone who will be around more often than not. We think he's been pretty neglected, and has really taken to all the extra attention in foster. Being a social little guy, a household with kids would be fantastic, but he's also happy sticking by one person's side. He would really suit a range of people and homes.

MY ENERGY LEVEL: Couch potato, but he's really enjoying getting out and about for medium-length walks (with lots of little breaks), and has been enjoying a run on the long lead at the park, and even occasionally chasing a ball!

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Meatball is great with kids. He was very affectionate and gentle on a long visit with my 3 year old niece. He loves the attention and pats he has gotten from all school-aged kids we've met out and about.

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: Great with all dogs we've met (dozens). He's definitely more playful with some over others. He's not been tested with cats, but we don't think this would be a problem as long as it was tested in any meet-and-greet.
