Meet Moose, a lovable, friendly boy to brighten up your days with his smile…
About: Moose is a comfy guy who is friendly, happy & outgoing. He’s a smart boy who is confident is his actions and a playful little guy.
Moose is social and affectionate and is very engaging with people and dogs alike. He’s a very endearing dog to be around & his love of all things will make you smile.
Moose is an easy-going dog who is suitable for first time dog owners.
He would be a great choice for people who are active & like spending time in the great outdoors where he can accompany you on hikes, a trip to the beach or even a weekend camping.
Ideal Home: Due is his adaptable nature he is suitable to live in any household & is suitable for any property type or dwelling- yard size doesn’t matter either - as long as the fencing is high & secure.
As he loves spending time with people it would be great if he had access to inside the home regularly so that he can feel like a part of the family.
Family: He is open to meet kids of any age, but it is important to note that he may jump up to say hello or give a quick lick so show his adoration, so smaller children should be aware of this.
Moose is a great choice for people who work full time hours as he is fairly low maintenance.
Furry Friends: Moose is dog social and during his dog assessment showed positive & social behaviour from a distance as well as up close. He was happy to interact & engage with the other dog and he was polite & respectful of the other dogs’ boundaries.
As always, we recommend that when introducing your new & existing animals that it is done slowly & that each animals boundaries are respected.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how Moose would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the direction of his new owners.
Training & Development: He would also benefit from post-adoption training, such as; training home to cover your basic commands & group classes to keep his social skills on point.
It’s good to note that with further training Moose would be the type of dog you could take to a dog friendly café or social event/setting.
He is food motivated; he loves ALL treats & is very gentle when he takes them from your hand – this will make training extra enjoyable for him.
He knows his name & knows commands such as ‘sit’ & ‘down’ & is willing to learn more – he is very obedient and is able to follow commands & movements like a profesh pupperino.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: His energy needs are low to medium & he would benefit from daily walks or exercise from 20-30mins.
He walks well on a lead & is best walked on a collar & lead.
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
