About Axel and Ruby Elphinstone
TO APPLY FOR ADOPTION PLEASE SEND IN APPLICATION FORM AVAILABLE BELOW:
https://www.victoriandogrescue.org.au/adopt/
Axel and Ruby are a bonded pair who have been well-loved their entire lives. Reluctantly due to a change in their beloved carers' circumstances, they find themselves in search of a new forever home.
Understandably, coming from a safe and caring home, they had to adapt to their new foster home, but during the short time they have spent with their foster family, they have come along in leaps and bounds.
Being older dogs, they had some mobility issues, but their improved daily exercise routine, and Ruby's arthritis injections have made a huge difference allowing them to move around with the best of them.
Being such a bonded pair, they prefer the company of each other, rather than that of other dogs or animals. Whilst Axel seems a little more curious of other dogs, Ruby prefers to keep her distance. This does not stop them enjoying getting out and about on their daily walk, they love the fresh air and simply prefer to keep to themselves and not cause trouble. Speaking of which, their loose lead walking is coming along nicely.
Humans, on the other hand, they are definitely realising there is much enjoyment to be had from their two legged friends. A good belly rub and some human attention won't go a miss with these two. They are even learning some human language and can sit and stay pretty well.
The pair are happy to be on their own for periods of the day, as long as they have each other for company. But obviously their enjoyment of human contact and attention, would suggest they would also love a home where their humans are around more often than not.
This beautiful pair currently appear to be better suited staying together. If your family has some extra room and love to give these sweeties, please fill out the application form below.
Thank you to Liv Morison of Liv Morison photography for the fantastic photos of Axel and Ruby.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

Please note that we do not take/make telephone calls prior to receiving an application.
Commonly asked questions and their answers are provided when you email us. Unfortunately we usually will not have time to reply to enquiries in more detail and will give priority to completed applications over enquiries. Priority will also be given to typed applications which are easier for us to read and to copy relevant parts.
We look forward to receiving your application.
