About Tamika
Looking for a gentle and warm companion full of love and cuddles? Say hello to Tamika, a feline friend who will quickly find her way into your heart. This lovely lady may be a bit reserved initially, but once she gets used to you, she's all about affection, purrs, and charming head bumps.
Tamika is living with FeLV.
A large shelter would have just euthanised her but as she’s been a well cat, we wanted to give her a chance and make the most of her time whilst she is on this earth and show her that humans can be kind and loving!
So what exactly is FeLV?
✅ Feline Leukemia Virus is a common viral disease that impairs a cat's immune system.
✅It can cause cancer and leaves the cat susceptible to illness. There is no cure.
✅FeLV is specific to cats, it is NOT transmissible to humans or other animals.
✅FeLV is transmitted through the saliva, nasal secretions, urine, feces, and milk of infected cats. Direct contact with these bodily fluids, mutual grooming, shared litter boxes and food dishes, and bite wounds expose uninfected cats to the virus.
✅An infected cat can be asymptomatic and live a NORMAL LIFE for a prolonged period of time (as is the case with our Tamika)
✅ Cats with FeLV have shorter life expectancies. When diagnosed as an adult, cats often live longer compared to cats that were diagnosed when they were a kitten. While it's difficult to predict how long the life of a cat with FeLV will be, they can still live happy and fulfilling lives!
✅To keep FeLV cats healthy, it is important for owners to keep an eye out for any signs of illness, look after their dental health, minimise stress and keep them up to date on vaccinations.
Although Tamika is FeLV positive, she astonishes us every day with her warrior spirit and shows no signs of illness. Her strength, resilience, and warmth make her a remarkable companion. Tamika possesses a finesse in maintaining her personal space. Her bed is her castle, and she's a champion when it comes to using the litter tray.
Tamika has a natural flawlessness that makes it almost impossible not to adore her. She's low in maintenance but high on the snuggle scale. She'll reward your efforts to make her feel comfortable and loved with the warmest gratitude. A simple back scratch can elicit a purr out of her that sounds like a little motor, sending much love your way.
Where Tamika truly shines is in her gentleness, especially with children. She is a sweetheart, showing no signs of aggression. Her calm and tender disposition make her the perfect addition to a loving family. Undeniably, Tamika has an unparalleled ability to steal hearts - one purr at a time.
In order to provide Tamika with the best possible environment and ensure her wellbeing, she must be in a home where she is the only cat unless the other feline companions are also FeLV positive. With Tamika, your family will gain a loving companion who brings a unique joy and tranquility that will fill your home.
