About Avery
Little miss Avery is ready to find her forever family and what a lucky family that will be! This gorgeous girl came to us from a rural NSW pound where she found herself after producing a few litters for her previous owners. She arrived into care confused and scared, but with the love and guidance of her foster carers and their dogs, Avery has come leaps and bounds, evolving into an extremely affectionate and gentle dog. Sitting at just over 5kg, she is a teeny tiny girl, but has loads of personality packed into her small stature.
Avery is in foster care with 2 male whippets, a corgi x and a cat. She interacts especially well with the whippets but one in particular she just loves and will snuggle up closely beside him on the sofa. She has interacted well with unknown dogs who she’s been gently introduced to and finds confidence by having other dogs around. Due to this, we will be looking for her to be rehomed with another confident, male dog so her transition to her forever home is less daunting for her. She doesn’t mind if the resident dog is big and old as long as they can be a pillar of support for her.
Whilst in care Avery has been learning about the big wide world. At first she found Sydney life a bit overwhelming, but now looks forward to her daily walks and has been going to a range of places confidently. While she can still get a bit nervous in very busy areas, she has loved exploring new places and has even been going to the local park at quiet times to play with some known, friendly dogs. She is fairly low energy, but definitely needs at least one walk a day and some engagement at home to keep her satisfied. Her new owners will need to ensure they have the experience and patience to rebuild her confidence out and about as she is likely to regress slightly during the transition to her new home.
Avery has begun some basic training and has been brushing up on house manners. She is toilet and crate trained, sleeping soundly through the night in her crate each evening. She travels very well in the car and is not a barker. Her favourite things to do at home are to spend time in the backyard or cuddle up on the couch with her carers and their dogs. She can be a little shy when meeting new people, but it doesn’t take her long to warm up and shower them in love. Her new family should continue training and providing her with a solid routine so that she can continue to flourish.
Avery’s perfect family would be a younger retired couple who are home more often than not. She has been ok left alone with the other dogs for a few hours here and there. She can whine for a little bit at first, but then settles in. Due to her more reserved nature, we will be looking for an adult only home for her as we feel kids would just be an added layer of noise and excitement in the home environment which is not the lifestyle this sweet girl is searching for. Her new family will need to allow her inside as part of the family, provide her a quality diet and provide her with a life filled with fun and adventure.
If you are interested in making the delightful Avery a permanent member of your family, fill in a Dog Adoption Enquiry form on the Fetching Dogs website. We expect she will be quite popular due to her breed, size and lovely temperament and we will only have time to speak to a couple of applicants, so please include plenty of extra detail as to the type of home you can offer Avery and a good outline of your previous dog experience.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
