About Syd
Meet Syd, the ginger tabby and white 1-year-old tomcat with enough energy to power a saber-toothed squirrel chase! Syd is a whirlwind of fur and fun, always on the move and ready for adventure. Just like his prehistoric counterpart, he's quick-witted and full of surprises, keeping everyone on their toes.
Syd's love for food is as big as his heart, and he can sniff out a treat from a mile away. His eyes light up at mealtime, and he's not shy about letting you know when it's time to fill his bowl.
Despite his playful nature, Syd prefers to be the sole star in his domain. He's not one for sharing the spotlight with other cats and would much rather have all the attention for himself. However, he's quite fond of kids who are six years and older, especially those who understand the art of respecting a cat's boundaries. Syd enjoys interactive play and snuggles on his terms, making him a delightful companion for families with older children.
With his ginger fur and mischievous charm, Syd embodies the spirit of adventure and independence. Just like the daring characters from Ice Age, he's always ready for a new escapade and brings joy and laughter wherever he goes. Syd isn't just a cat; he's a fearless explorer on a never-ending quest for fun!
To book a meet and greet with Syd please phone 5441-2209 or email barcreception@bendigo.vic.gov.au . Due to the high volume of emails received, enquiries with a request for a specific appointment with phone details included will receive a response as priority over generic applications which state they are interested in meeting an animal.

Adoption details
BARC adoption officers will work with you to help you find a dog or cat that matches your needs, they will discuss things like yard fencing, exercise requirements, other pets and family members, lifestyle factors, and breed experience. To help make this as quick and easy as possible, we ask you complete and adoption questionnaire (located on our website, or you can complete on when you visit). This helps ensure that we are introducing you to the most suitable animals we have available.
We encourage all members of the household to attend a meet and greet with a pet prior to adopting an animal. If the animal being adopted is a dog, we will also require existing dogs in the household to attend the shelter as part of the meet and greet.
Holds can not be placed on animals over the phone, and can only be applied at the discretion of management.
