About Diamond
Hi! I’m Diamond and I’m looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR DIAMOND
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/rW3n673UX7sbT4yt6
NOTE: You are unable to meet Diamond until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Diamond in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
What I need in my new home:
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• To be allowed inside with my family
• A male doggie playmate who is gentle and calm will be best as I’m not a fan of boisterous female dogs, I will require lots of socialisation with positive experiences with other female dogs.
• A doggie companion is a MUST to keep me company when my family isn't home or a family that is home all the time. I suffer from separation anxiety which results in barking and possible destructive behaviours.
• I like both friendly male and some female dogs; I can be a bit choosy with them as I like being the boss. I have made 1 female dog friend here who lets me be the boss; otherwise I LOVE males.
• A cat may be ok with a slow introduction.
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• Lots of love and attention
• I have lots of energy so an active family is a must
• Doggy daycare and group socialisation classes would be highly beneficial for me.
• SOCIALISATION is as important for me as it appears I've led a fairly sheltered life and can be a bit nervous/shy in new situations. Since being at the shelter I'm becoming much braver though. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will help boost my confidence.
Things that I don’t want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
• Free-roaming rabbits, guinea pigs or fowl. I can happily co-exist with these animals if they are contained.
My best features:
• Very playful
• Wiggle butt
• Highly food motivated
• Gentle & placid
• I love attention and having snuggles with my humans
• Happy to hang out with other friendly dogs (males preferably)
• Social butterfly
• I love attention, hugs, kisses & head scratches
• Well mannered
• Love to snooze on the couch
• I am getting better with walking on lead for a doggie who’s never been walked but having daily walks should help me improve my lead skills
• Exuberant & full of beans
Where I need to improve / Training required
• I will require full basic training as I've had no training experience yet
• I can be a bit bouncy -training should stop this
• I can be strong on the lead - training and walking me in a halti or harness may stop this
• I may show signs of anxiety when I'm left alone in the backyard, having a doggie sibling will drastically reduce this!
AN ADOPTION CAN'T BE APPROVED IF YOU HAVE CANNOT COME TO THE SHELTER TO MEET Diamond IN PERSON.
