About Rex
Waiting to blossom in the right home...
Suitable for first time owners
Open to meet kids (5yrs+)
Suitable for part-time or WFH people
Dog social (confidence)
Shy & sweet
Approx. 27.7kg
Rex may be shy and timid at first, but underneath lies a heart full of love just waiting to blossom.
About: Rex is ideal for both first-time dog owners and experienced handlers alike.
While his lack of confidence can sometimes hold him back, his friendly nature shines through once he feels comfortable in his surroundings.
Rex may start off a bit bashful, but once he warms up, he's a total lovebug who can't get enough of those belly rubs and ear scratches!
He would be the perfect fit for a household where he can feel safe and secure to come out of his shell at his own pace, so a calm and quiet environment would be ideal.
Ideal Home: Rex is quiet, rarely barks & has low energy needs, so he's totally cool to live in a unit, apartment or home. Yard size is of no concern either, as long as the yard is fully fenced & secure.
Family: He craves social interaction and longs to be a part of a loving family.
Got kiddos? No problemo! Rex adores the company of kids, but he may be best suited for a home with older children, aged 5 years and up.
Loud noises might startle him, so a quieter environment would be ideal for him to flourish.
Occasionally, Rex may seek reassurance through gentle jumps, but with your love and patience, he'll learn that he's safe and secure in his forever home.
Res is suitable for people who work part time or form home.
Furry Friends: He is dog social, but due to his lack of confidence he may be best being the only dog in the home for now while he builds & works on his confidence. He’s happy to see dogs & interact but he prefers to engage with his handler.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how Rex would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the direction of his new owners.
Training & Development: Training is key to helping Rex reach his full potential. Post-adoption training, including basic obedience at home and group classes to maintain his social skills, will be beneficial for him.
Additionally, one-on-one sessions with a professional can assist him in overcoming his shyness and building confidence in everyday situations.
With the right guidance and support, Rex has the potential to become a social butterfly, accompanying you to dog-friendly cafes and social gatherings with ease. He walks well on a leash and is food-motivated, making training a breeze.
Rex knows his name, knows how to ‘sit’ & even has a neat trick up his sleeve—balancing treats on his nose!
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Rex is a low-energy pup who only requires a short walk every other day, making him suitable for people who enjoy a leisurely life.
Although Rex isn't particularly interested in toys, he finds comfort in human interaction.
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
