About Tyra
Just a girl who deserves the world...
Suitable for first time owners
Open to meet kids (5yrs+)
Suitable for part-time workers
Dog social
Loving & adoring
Approx. 26kg
You may remember Tyra as being the severely skinny stray that came in a few weeks back. Well, no one came to claim her and despite how emaciated she was she has wowed us with her love of life.
There is no doubt that she has had a rough life, but she’s been able to show us that when a door closes another one opens (which is probably how she got out in the first place).
She won’t let her past hold her back, she’s ready to find a home that will love & adore her as she so deserves!
About: This sweet and outgoing girl is all about spreading love and excitement wherever she goes. Tyra is the perfect blend of affection and playfulness, making her an ideal companion for both first-time pet parents and experienced ones alike.
Tyra's vibrant personality shines through from the moment you meet her. Affectionate, friendly, and always ready for a good time, she's a social butterfly.
Ideal Home: With her confident nature and social ways, Tyra is ready to adapt to any household. Tyra is as versatile as they come, making her the perfect fit for any household.
Whether you reside in an apartment right through to a farmhouse, as long as there's a medium-sized yard with secure fencing, she'll feel right at home.
Tyra thrives on human interaction and would love nothing more than to be allowed indoors to spend quality time with her family.
Family: Due to her exuberance, Tyra is better suited to families with kids aged 5 and up.
Though her intentions are pure, her enthusiasm can sometimes lead to accidental collisions with smaller kiddos.
Tyra is fine to live with people who work part-time.
Furry Friends: When it comes to furry friends, Tyra is dog social but is not interested in making friends. She is polite & will say hello to the other dog & is respectful of their presence but is happy being the centre of attention from her handler.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how Tyra would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the direction of her new owners.
Training & Development: Tyra would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands & group classes to ensure that her dog social skills remain sharp. Tyra's a quick learner, she already knows how to "sit" and is eager to learn more.
When it comes to treats, Tyra's a gentle soul. She'll delicately take them from your hand with the grace of a true lady.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Tyra would benefit from daily walks and play sessions from 30 to 60 minutes, keeping her happy, healthy, and entertained.
While she may pull on her leash occasionally, we're working on it with some loose leash training. A martingale and lead combo works wonders for her walks.
And toys? Well, let's just say Tyra's toy collection is her pride and joy, especially those soft, squishy ones!
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
