About Skye - 6 Month Old Kelpie X Husky (Trial)
Skye is a beautiful, energetic young girl full of so much love. She loves to be around people, is great with kids and friendly and playful with other dogs. She loves to run, cuddle and chew and is just starting to learn how to play.
Skye has come from the pound underweight and in a neglected condition but is putting on weight really quickly and improving so fast. Despite having been starved in the past she is not food obsessed and happily settling around two good quality meals a day now. She is learning how to sit and is working on her recall which is already really amazing as she easily gets distracted with the chicken coop or any new interesting smell that needs to be explored but still wants to please and usually comes back right away.
Although Skye is very attached and loves to be close to her humans at all times, she is now able to relax on her own and chew on her toys and bones when we are out for a few hours. The longest she has been left has been six hours and being a puppy her ideal home would not leave her alone much longer now and in the future. Skye still has accidents inside but is getting much better at house training and we are working gently but diligently on zero accidents every day.
Skye loves to run super fast and needs a lot of exercise to get all that energy out of her (2 walks a day are a must!) but she equally loves to cuddle up on the couch, under the table and next to the bed at the end of the day once all of the energy is burnt. She wants to be close and needs to always be part of the family. She currently sleeps next to our bed and in her new home she needs to be allowed to sleep indoors and near her people rather than in a crate as being enclosed scares her and she gets quite frantic which isn’t surprising given her rough start in life.
She is living with two young and loud kids (aged 3 and 6) and is very sweet with them, accepting cuddles and pats on tap and gives lots of love back, the only thing that needs attention with smaller kids around is the jumping and playful nipping of clothes as she is quite strong and will only get stronger as she’s got quite a bit more of growing to do and she’s provably not suited for very small kids.
Skye is currently living with chickens, pocket pets and two cats and shows a lot of interest in them. A home with none of the above may be best to reduce stress on the smaller animals or if you have any of the above, safe enclosures for the smaller animals are a must. With the cats she has been a bit too interested and at this stage I would not recommend it but of course with the right cat it may work out fine.
Overall, Skye would love an active home with people who love her for her energy and all the love she likes to give. She loves people and would ideally have another dog to play with and keep her company during the day as well.
Skye’s adoption fee is $600 which includes desexing. She has been vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms and is microchipped.
