Meet, Sidney the Sheltie guinea pig. I'm a long haired guinea pig, distinguished from my Peruvian cousins, as our hair grows from the back of our heads (like a lion) and is known for being soft and silky. I'm gentle and shy in nature and will need regular grooming and trimming to keep my hair tidy which, while pleasurable, does require a level of commitment and diligence. For that reason we wouldn't recommend Shelties for kids, despite the fact that they are very easy going in temperament. Nevertheless, I'm very playful and affectionate when handled regularly.
