About Mars
The wonderful story of Mars & Barney!
When Mars first came in, she was surrendered with multiple other dogs. Sadly, her owners could no longer care for her. Mars was terrified, lonely and completely devastated to be out of her comfort zone. Mars shies away from people and has little confidence with life - everything is so scary to her! Despite the fact she is so worried - she has a soft and wonderful disposition and is a lovely girl.
Mars has been so incredibly shut down in the Shelter that she was refusing to leave her pen ...
UNTIL SHE MET BARNEY!
Barney has been the light of Mars' life. Mars and Barney have an intense, over-the-top, rough-and-tumble type of play style. They do zoomies, wrestling and fall over each other consistently. Mars and Barney are two (very large) peas in a pod.
Mars is still learning to trust people and see that human interaction is a good thing, but she will still require ongoing work and confidence building. She really enjoys getting out for regular walks with Barney who helps her navigate the scary outside world.
Both Barney and Mars walk well on lead and harness once the initial excitement of going for a walk has subsided.
Barney & Mars are also both highly food motivated dogs. Barney is a big piggy and adores doing one-on-one training for treats. While he has been in care he has learned to sit on cue (Mars is still learning).
The confidence that Barney brings Mars is so strong and wonderful that we have made the decision that we could not possibly separate these best friends. Mars & Barney are a joint adoption pair. Their joint adoption fee is $580 for the pair.
Please come down and meet them both today - our wonderful team at The Lost Dogs' Home can tell you much more about them both individually.
