About Basil - 6 Month Old Beaglier (Trial)
Basil or Bas for short….cause who doesn't love a good Aussie nickname, is a 6 month old male Beaglier puppy. He is a kind, gentle soul…if there was ever a good boy, he is it :)
Basil is a healthy puppy who has been raised in a home environment with 2 adults and has been introduced to children over 5. He has been well socialised with other puppies and adult dogs (small and large) and gets along well with them all. He's met a handful of people and is shy at first, but with a little bit of sniffing he starts to warm up to them.
Basil’s ideal home would be a large yard to explore. He is still learning to walk on a lead. Basil enjoys chewing on bones and chew toys with supervision, just don’t leave him alone with your crocs! He is doing well with training to not jump, sit, come, inside and outside. He is toilet trained and has not had any inside accidents.
Basil will grow up to be a medium dog. We always recommend puppy-training classes to give him the best start in life. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection and exercise, and if this is given to Basil, he will reciprocate 10 x fold.
It would be a big plus if you have a friendly adult dog as a teacher, companion and playmate for Basil. If you don't have another dog to keep him company, then there needs to be someone in the household that doesn't work full time, or stay at home worker/pawrent. Basil gets along well with cats, but he does have a tendency to chase the kitties when he gets excited to see them, he is still learning to just give them kisses then leave them be.
Basil needs to be welcome inside when people are home, Basil currently sleeps in a sunroom separate from the household, and has gotten used to this routine, but I’m sure he wouldn't say no to a cuddle in your bed. Basil has a peaceful and soulful nature to him and would make a fantastic family dog, and is more suitable for children 6 years and older, but with the right dedication to training would be ok for children under 5. You will need good fencing with no small gaps. He can't go to rural fencing (eg: mesh or wire) as he likes to explore.
Basil’s siblings Watson, Copper and Doug are also available for adoption.
Basil's adoption fee is $1000 which includes his desexing which will happen before adoption. It also includes his first two vaccinations. He has been treated for fleas and worms, and is microchipped.
Basil is in foster care in Newcastle, NSW. Since he is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to the Lower Hunter region (Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Maitland and Cessnock) plus Central Coast and Sydney. However Doug will be getting desexed mid March.
