About Rhubarb - Located in Melton South
I'm Rhubarb, but you can call me Rhu for short. Yep, I'm that tall, grey, and oh-so-handsome feline you've been searching for. Trust me, I've got the looks and the charm to steal your heart in a whisker!
First things first, let me tell you about my hobbies. I'm a pro at swatting those tricky wand toys. Chasing up the scratching post? Piece of cake! And when it's time to unwind, there's nothing I love more than cozying up for a catnap. I mean, who doesn't love a good snooze, am I right?
I'm an absolute gentleman, the kind who knows how to make everyone around him feel special. Whether it's a purr or a head bump, I've got plenty of love to go around. And guess what? I'm great with other cats! So if you've got a feline friend looking for a buddy, I'm your guy.
But hey, let's address the elephant in the room - my heart condition. Yep, I've got a bit of a wonky ticker, but don't let that scare you off. I'm a trooper, and I take my medication like a champ. Plus, I've got a knack for reminding you when it's "snacky time" - just keep those churu treats coming, and we'll get along just fine.
Oh, and about the heat? Let's just say I'm not a fan. I'll need a cool spot with some air conditioning to beat the heat, but hey, who doesn't love a little pampering?
So here's the deal: I may have a few quirks, but who doesn't? Life's too short to sweat the small stuff, and I'm here to make every moment count. So what do you say? Ready to let a dashing feline like me into your life? Go ahead, send in that adoption enquiry. Trust me, you won't regret it. Let's make some memories together! 🐾

Medical notes
Rhubarb does have a congenital heart defect and requires medication morning and evening as well as annual ultrasounds.
He is very easy to medicate as he will take his tablets inside his churu treats (he even reminds you if you're late with"snacky time" by circling at the fridge).
During high temperatures Rhu will require a place with air conditioning as he does struggle a little in the heat due to his heart. He also sometimes needs to be reminded that he can't play as intensely as the kittens but he certainly likes to give it a red hot go.
He will require medication long term, and his heart may begin to fail at anytime. It could be 10 years from now or it may only be 6-12 months.
Rhu has previously had surgery to correct the entropion of his right eye lid. He has healed beautifully and his vets do not expect him to have any further issues with the eye.
WORLDWIDE CAT VACCINE SHORTAGE
There is currently a worldwide shortage of cat vaccines and supplies are unlikely to be replenished until early 2024. This is due to complicated supply problems post-COVID. Our vets have limited, and in some cases no supplies available, but are prioritising kittens and previously unvaccinated Cats wherever possible.
Kittens are at the highest risk as their level of protection is very low after the initial protection provided by the mother’s antibodies. While protection will wane a little over time, a delay up to three months is unlikely to result in a significant reduction in levels of protection. It is anticipated that clinics should have regular supplies early in the new year to bring your cat back up to date.
First Vaccination completed
We will try to provide at least 1 vaccination, depending on our supplies of vaccines available, however boosters may become overdue. In this case it is your responsibility to contact your vet as soon as supplies become available. We will not be re-imbursing any of this costs.
We require all cats and kittens to be indoors only and not allowed outside. This is especially important now as there is a risk of coming into contact with unknown cats who may not be vaccinated.
No Vaccination completed
Where we are unable to provide any vaccination during their time in care with us, please contact us on 0459779888 or via email to samantha@neko.org.au, and we will arrange for one vaccination to be done at one of our partnering clinics as soon as supplies are available. Boosters after this will be your responsibility.
Please note that should you choose to utilise your own clinic, we will not be re-imbursing any costs. This is your responsibility.
